Event Date:
February 23, 2013 - 6:00pm
While many already know ‘A Noun is a Person, Place or Thing,’ what they may not know is it’s time to show your inner rock star at the School House Rocks event to support local schools. The ‘Conjunction Junction’ will start at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at MontBleu and it will feature a live DJ, music, silent and live auctions, cocktails, food and more.
Each year, Zephyr Cove Elementary School and George Whittell High/Middle School raise funds to support technology upgrades, field trips, arts, science, reading, math, sports equipment and much more.
Tickets are $50 per person or $90 a pair. ‘Interjections’ start with Hey! Buy your TICKETS here or at one of these locations:
— 100 McFaul Way (behind Safeway Roundhill): Forever Dance, Studio D
Salon, Lake Tahoe Yoga
— Hair & Nail Salon located at 209 Kingsbury Grade
— ZCES and GWHS located in Zephyr Cove
Crespin Esquivel, Principal of GWHS, said, “This event is our biggest fundraiser and we hope our community will come out to support our schools.”
Since ‘Three is a Magic Number’, here are 3 key ways to help our schools:
1) Buy tickets
2) Donate (tax deductible and receipt provided) here:
3) Be a Sponsor
For a look at silent auction items to include Silver Oak and Louis M. Martini wines, themed gift baskets for movie night and family games, gift certificates to Gaiaicious, Savvy and more, look here.
Special appeals by teachers and principals along with various special raffle ticket items will soon be announced. And, to keep current on the night’s activities, please join the School House Rocks Facebook page.
For a VIP table, it is $1,000, which includes a complimentary bottle of wine and preferred seating. For purchasing 6 or more tickets to fill a table with new supporters to these schools, a complimentary bottle of wine is included. Supporters can also purchase a ticket for a favorite teacher.
Live auction items include trips to San Diego and Napa and a bar hopping ride on the local-favorite Party Bus.
“This effort truly helps our schools to be successful,” continued Esquivel. Last year’s event raised $40,000 and contributed laptops, athletic equipment, language software, library books, printers, hard drives, engineering books, cultural assemblies, science fair support, art and culinary supplies.
According to Auction event planner Janay Aiksnoras, “Donations for our silent and live auction items are being accepted now through the day of the event.” Donation ideas include gift certificates, themed gift basket, sponsorship or bottles of wine.
“Our schools can have laptops in the classroom and proper sports equipment thanks to this annual event,” stated Brian Rippet, GWHS science teacher.
So while ‘I’m Just a Bill’ may be stuck on Capitol Hill, ZCES and GWHS invite both locals and visitors to MontBleu on Feb. 23 for School House Rocks. “The event is sure to be fun and worthwhile in support of academics,” continued Aiksnoras.
