Pink Heavenly event to raise funds for South Lake Tahoe area locals fighting cancer

Event Date:
March 23, 2019 (All day)

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - On March 23, 2019, participants will take to the slopes to raise funds for patients in the South Lake Tahoe area who are fighting cancer in the inaugural Pink Heavenly.

The Barton Foundation is joining Heavenly Mountain Resort in putting on the event with the hopes of giving cancer the boot by raising $250,000.

Hundreds of fun-loving, pink-clad participants are expected to come out for the first-ever event at Heavenly’s California Base Lodge. The day includes a family friendly deck party, all-day music, costume contest, prizes, on-mountain checkpoints, great skiing, and snowboarding.

A cancer diagnosis is likely to open the floodgates to a wide range of emotions, for both the patient and loved ones. Additionally, stress can sometimes feel insurmountable during the diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship of cancer. Studies show that cancer patients participating in wellness programs have a higher quality of life and experience more energy and less depression.

Teams will have the opportunity to honor a friend or loved one by skiing or riding in a celebratory run, sponsored by Edgewood at Tahoe, which will take place on Poma Run, accessed from the First Ride chair.

Registration for the event is now open at PinkHeavenly.com allowing participants to start their fundraising early. Pink Heavenly participants can register as individuals, start a team or join a team and ask their friends and family to make a donation on their behalf. Registration is only $25.

By helping to fund Barton Health's Cancer Wellness services, participants will ensure patients in the community receive movement classes, wellness and nutrition coaching, support groups, emotional support, and acupuncture. These unique services can dramatically impact a patient’s quality of life and are not typically covered by insurance.
