Rain still falling in South Lake Tahoe, snow moving in at upper elevations

Rain is still falling in South Lake Tahoe but chain controls are starting to go up at upper elevations as snow begins to fall. Up to 1"-2" more precipitation is still expected Thursday night at the 6,200 ft elevation.
Lake level rain is forecast to end Friday with a winter storm warning in place until Saturday morning at 1:00 a.m. 4"-7" of snow is expected in South Lake Tahoe during that time.
The City of South Lake Tahoe Public Works Department has been monitoring water height and flow of the Upper Truckee River. It reached its highest point so far this storm on Thursday with a height of 12.07 feet at 2:15 p.m., 2.6 feet over what it was Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. when the river was at 9.45 feet.
The Carson Valley is experiencing flooding at the base of Kingsbury Grade and several roads have been closed due to water, including Muller and Genoa Lanes.
