For the third in four years, water in Douglas County has won the Best Tasting Water award for the state of Nevada.
The Nevada Rural Water Association (NvRWA) announced that the Cave Rock Water Treatment Plant had won first place at their recent conference in Reno. The service area includes Cave Rock, Lakeside and Skyland systems next to beautiful Lake Tahoe.
Another one of Douglas County Utilities Systems “Montaña” was a close second for this year’s 2017 prize winning award, as stated by Bob Forester, Executive Director of NvRWA. This system represents a water well servicing homes near Jack’s Valley Road north of Genoa.
In 2014, Douglas County Utilities won first place for a well in Genoa and then in 2015, Glenbrook Water Company took first place in the state. That year, Glenbrook took first place in the United States National Finals after beating out a thousand other companies.
“We have achieved three 1st place winners here in Douglas County for the best tasting water in the state of Nevada in just 4 years,” said Tim DeTurk, Douglas County Utilities Superintendent. “I would like to congratulate and thank Douglas County Utilities, their water treatment operators and staff on achieving this prestigious accomplishment.”
