COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe and surrounding counties

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - Since Friday there have been two new cases of COVID-19 in El Dorado County. They are both in South County, one male, one female, 65+ and 18-49. This brings the total in the county to 56. There have been three new recoveries, so now 48, and eight active cases. To date, 3,193 residents have been administered tests in the county, with 258 since Friday.

Twenty people in the Lake Tahoe region of the county have tested positive. This region includes South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Kyburz, and Tahoma.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 32 recoveries and five new COVID-19 cases in Washoe County. On Saturday there were 16 new cases and 18 on Sunday.

19 cases have been confirmed in Incline Village and one in Crystal Bay.

Hospital bed and ventilator information
According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of May 9, 2020:

65 percent of staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (+9% since May 7)
32 percent of the Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (-7%)
11 percent of ventilators are in use (-1%)

The number of staffed beds in Washoe County does not include alternate care sites such as the one at Renown Regional Medical Center.

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Quad-County Emergency Operations Center (Quad EOC) is reporting three new positive cases of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 124, with 82 recoveries and two deaths, 40 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A male Lyon County resident in his 40’s
• A male Lyon County resident in his 20’s
• A male Carson City resident in his 30’s

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

Alpine County

There have only been updates to the county's testing figures. The two positive case numbers have not risen in a few weeks. The figures below are the last ones reported on April 27 and there have been no changes.
