COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe and surrounding counties

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - There have been no new cases of COVID-19 in El Dorado County, but there has been one new recovery.

To date, 60 COVID-19 cases in the county with 20 in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Kyburz, and Tahoma). There have been 51 recoveries and nine active cases remain county-wide.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting three additional COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County:

A male in his 70s with underlying health conditions
A male in his 70s; it is under investigation if there were underlying health conditions
A male in his 50s with underlying health conditions

There are 43 COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County. Please note that Washoe County Health District Officer Kevin Dick reported two additional deaths at the 11:30 a.m. press briefing today. An additional death was reported after that press briefing.

In addition, there were 23 recoveries from COVID-19 and 16 additional cases.

Hospital bed and ventilator information
According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of May 12, 2020:

57 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (-3% since May 11)
46 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+12%)
14 percent of all ventilators are in use (+2%)

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Quad-County Emergency Operations Center (Quad EOC) is reporting one new positive case and two recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 128, with 86 recoveries and two deaths, 40 cases remain active.

The new case is:
• A male Lyon County resident in his 60’s

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the case will be released.

There have been no new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since Tuesday.

Alpine County

There have only been updates to the county's testing figures. The two positive case numbers have not risen in a few weeks. The figures below are the last ones reported on April 27 and there have been no changes.
