Tom Orlich, one of California’s all-time winningest coaches which includes a 25-year run at South Tahoe High, has been hired by his former student, and new Stanford Men's Basketball coach, Jerod Haase.
According to the Fresno Bee, Orlich, who won three Central Section championships and more than 300 games in 14 seasons at Clovis High, is retiring from his district job to join Haase.
Orlich coached Haase in South Lake Tahoe from 1988-1992. He left coaching on the South Shore in the summer of 2000 after taking a downtrodden, isolated program in the Sierra in the mid-70s and turning it into a powerhouse in both the region and state of Nevada. While at STHS he had a 521-177 record, .746 winning percentage, nine zone championships, two state titles and a No. 19 national ranking in 1991-92.
