Late Night Runners in South Lake Tahoe for Reno-Tahoe Odyssey

Runners with lights and reflective gear ran through South Lake Tahoe Friday night as part of the 10th Annual Reno-Tahoe Odyssey relay race. Drivers in town might have seen the blinking arrows, informing runners of the route. Others in town reported seeing the bonfires and groups of people stationed where runners were changed. The Beachcomber Inn housed one team for a quick nap and shower before they headed to the finish.

The relay teams started in Reno's Wingfield Park on Friday morning and began a 178 mile journey that led them to Stampede Reservoir, Truckee and Tahoe City before they hit the south shore. Runners are now on their way to Idlewild Park in Reno for the finish about noon Saturday.

Teams are made of 12 runners, each running 3 legs of the course.

There are 36 legs in the race. The South Lake Tahoe legs were from Eagle Falls Trailhead to the Taylor Creek Visitor Center, then to the parking lot at Venice Blvd and Tahoe Keys Blvd. The next runner ran to LTCC where their teammate took the leg to Raley's at Stateline.

The final South Lake Tahoe leg of the race went from Raley's to the top of Kingsbury Grade before their decent into the valley.
