The search for Marc Ma, the 20-year-old University of Nevada Reno football player who went missing after a paddleboard outting on Lake Tahoe with teammates, will resume on Thursday, June 16.
The Tahoe Dive Team and volunteers from the Placer County Sheriff's Office will be joined by Kern County Sheriff's deputies and an out-of-state company to search for Ma who went missing on the afternoon of June 10 when winds came up and created dangerous conditions including 3- to 5-foot waves.
Five other UNR football players, who were out paddleboarding with Ma, were rescued by a nearby boat. Only Ma’s paddle board and life vest were found floating nearby.
The out-of-state company has high-tech equipment capable of taking images of the lake’s bottom, up to 900-feet down. Kern County Sheriff's Office will also be assisting with high-tech side-scan sonar equipment.
Ma, who is from Hawaii, will be remembered in a Celebration of Life, also on Thursday, at Grace Church in Reno at 8:00 p.m.
