South Lake Tahoe joins hands with Barton Health to create inaugural Lake Tahoe Lifestyle Festival

Many of us take advantage of all Lake Tahoe has to offer, including hiking, biking, camping, skiing and much more, but I have come across several members of our community recently who feel as though they don’t know how to exactly go about enjoying these things. So, at Barton Health, we asked ourselves … what are things South Lake Tahoe has to offer that people could enjoy more?
What kind of basic wellness check-ups and educational opportunities could we provide? Most of all, how could we enhance the lives of our community? So, we’ve [Barton Health] partnered up with the City of South Lake Tahoe and combined our Family Health Day with the City’s Bijou Bash creating the inaugural Lake Tahoe Lifestyle Festival, Saturday, September 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Filled with health, recreation and fun, the festival will provide attendees free healthcare assessments and screenings, along with interactive opportunities for the entire family. Designed for all ages and abilities, it’s an opportunity for residents of South Lake to enjoy a day full of fun – together!
Our goal is to provide a free day of interactive activities as well as teach the community and visitors alike how to simply improve their lifestyles. Our hope is that The Lake Tahoe Lifestyle Festival will encourage attendees to get moving (ride their bikes to the festival and enjoy free valet), get educated (learn about wilderness appreciation) and to get inspired (about all things Tahoe).
Be ready to try something new! We will have healthful foods, mountain bike tours, a nature appreciation walk, yoga and fitness moves, tumbling for kids, a balance bike obstacle course, sit-down crafts and face painting. And, BluGo will be providing free bus rides all day on route 53, located on the California side of South Lake Tahoe — making stops at Lake Tahoe Community College and the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.
Thanks to our sponsors for helping make this event a reality: Southwest Gas, Lake Tahoe News, Sierra-At-Tahoe and the Tahoe Daily Tribune. All proceeds from our vendors and sponsors are designated to help underprivileged children in support of The City of South Lake Tahoe’s Recreation Youth Scholarship Fund. For more information on the event, please contact Leanne Wagoner at (530) 543-5537 or Sue McLaughlin at (530) 543-5615. You can also visit the event Website at www.cityofslt.us/ltlifestylefestival.
