Lake Tahoe area roadwork August 19-25

The following is a list of the Caltrans roadwork projects in the Lake Tahoe Basin and El Dorado County for the week of August 19 - August 25, 2018.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS
State Route 49 (El Dorado County): Work is wrapping up on a $22 million project to replace the South Fork American River Bridge in Coloma-Lotus. This project will make seismic improvements to the new bridge, widen the structure to allow for 8-foot shoulders and 6-foot sidewalks, and improve the roadway on both sides of the bridge. Completion is expected by mid-August. No traffic-interfering work is scheduled on the highway.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on the second season of a $57 million project from the “Y” intersection at State Route 89 to the Trout Creek Bridge in South Lake Tahoe. This project is building new drainage systems to collect and treat stormwater runoff, rebuilding curbs, gutters and sidewalks, widening the highway to allow for bike lanes and resurfacing the roadway. Completion is expected in fall 2019. August 20-23 - U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from the Upper Truckee River Bridge to Winnemucca Avenue: Westbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed at various times day and night from 6 a.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Friday for curb, gutter and sidewalk work. Eastbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed from Tahoe Keys Boulevard to Sierra Boulevard at various times day and night from 6 a.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Friday for drainage work. Two lanes will remain open in each direction using the two-way left-turn lane from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $35 million project in Tahoe City to build a new Truckee River bridge east of the Caltrans Maintenance Yard with roundabouts on either end of the realignment, replace the existing Truckee River (Fanny) Bridge, construct a roundabout at the “Wye” intersection and make complete street enhancements to the portion of State Route 89/West Lake Boulevard. August 19-24 - State Route 89 (Placer County) from the Tahoe City Transit Center to the Caltrans Maintenance Yard: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 10 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday and 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $3.6 million multi-use path project that will connect the existing path that ends at Sugar Pine Point State Park to Meeks Bay Resort. Completion is expected this fall. August 20-23 - State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Meeks Bay Resort to Sugar Pine State Park: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for shoulder work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $7.1 million project to resurface more than 10 miles of Highway 50 from the Sawmill Undercrossing in Cedar Grove to the South Fork American River Bridge near Riverton in El Dorado County, due to funds from Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. August 20-24 - U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) between Sawmill and Sly Park Road and at the Sawmill Undercrossing and at the Sly Park Road Undercrossing: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect intermittent lane and on- and off-ramp closures from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday for grinding and paving work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

State Route 28 (Placer County) from Star Harbor to Lake Forest Road East: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday for landscape work.

State Route 28 (Placer County) from Carnelian Wood Avenue to Granite Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday for landscape work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Riverwood Drive Woodridge Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for vegetation clearing and drain cleaning work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) at Nashville: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday for utility work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Red Hawk Parkway: Eastbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures on the off-ramp from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Friday for repair work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Placerville Drive to Canal Street in Placerville: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Friday for repair work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Broadway Street/Mosquito Road in Placerville: Eastbound motorists can expect the Broadway Street off-ramp closed and westbound motorists can expect the Mosquito Road on-ramp closed until September for bridge deck work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from 33 Mile Stone to Wright’s Lake Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for maintenance work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Strawberry Tract: Eastbound motorists can expect the #1 lane closed from 9 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday, 7 p.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Tuesday, and 7 p.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday for guardrail repair.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Herbert Avenue to Ski Run Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe: Eastbound motorists can expect a lane shift to use the two-way left turn lane as a through lane from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for curb, gutter and sidewalk work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) from South Street to Cedar Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday for maintenance work.

The Caltrans District Traffic Management Branch has reviewed each project and determined that individual project delays are expected to be less than the statewide policy maximum of 30 minutes, unless noted otherwise above. Lanes are numbered from the center divide (#1) to the shoulder (#2, 3, 4, etc.).
