COVID-19 test results now in 2-5 days in El Dorado County

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - Results from COVID-19 testing at the two state-sponsored, free sites in South Lake Tahoe and Placerville are currently expected to come back in 2-5 days. These tests are available for any El Dorado County, Alpine County, or State of Nevada resident wanting to be tested for the virus.

The test is a nasal swab type and determines whether you currently have COVID-19. This is not an antibody test to determine if virus contracted at an earlier time. There is no barrier to being tested. The cost is covered either by medical insurance or by the State for those who are uninsured, and if someone is without identification, testing staff will generate a unique identifier number to obtain results. The only requirement is an appointment. Walk-ins are not accepted.

Two state-sponsored test sites:

Lake Tahoe Community College (Tuesdays-Saturdays) in the gymnasium from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville Mondays 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Tuesdays. 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

CVS Pharmacy has a drive-through test at their El Dorado Hills location. Visit CVS.com to make your appointment. Drive-thru test is available at 4330 Latrobe Road, El Dorado Hills, Calif.

To register for an appointment, people can visit https://lhi.care/covidtesting. Those without internet access can call 888-634-1123.

Nevada residents in the Tahoe area and Spanish speaking residents can only register via the call center at 888-634-1123 at this time.

All test results will be entered into the California Reportable Disease Information Exchange (CalREDIE) site. Patients will receive a card at the time of testing directing them to a site for test results. Patients who test positively will be contacted by telephone by a nurse.
