STMS and STHS holding KickStart 2016 on Thursday

The beginning of the school can be as hectic for parents as it is for kids due to the amount of paperwork to fill out and items to be purchased. Much of the class time on those first few days is filled with teachers collected those completed forms, sending kids to purchase gym clothes, school pictures, check out Chrome Books, and more. For the first time, both South Tahoe High and South Tahoe Middle Schools are holding "KickStart" day on Thursday, August 25 to alleviate some of those tasks. There will be a series of stations for students and parents to navigate through.

At South Tahoe High, Prinicpal Chad Houck has organized a full day starting at 8:00 a.m. with freshman and new student KickStart. Then, starting at noon, it will be orientation for those same two groups with all other grades levels welcome from 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Activities for KickStart at STHS:

• Complete re-registration/emergency card either by paper or by computer
• Take school pictures and pick up student ID
• Purchase ASB membership
• Purchase STHS Spirit wear
• Purchase PE clothes
• Pre-purchase your yearbook
• Visit and sign up with the STHS Parent Boosters
• Check out your Chromebook (complete the Internet Use Agreement)
• Fill out Free/Reduced meal application
• Fill out your bus pass application
• Sign up for Aeries Parent Portal
• Pick up your class schedule **After all above is completed**

Over at South Tahoe Middle School, Principal John Simons has announced his school's KickStart activities which are designed to take care of all the beginning of the school year paperwork, purchases, Chromebook distribution and to answer any questions you may have prior to the first day of school.

• Registration table for filling out emergency cards and collection of health and technology paperwork

• ​Computer café to assist parents with signing up for Aeries Parent Portal

8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. - All 6th grade students
10:00 a.m.– 12:00 p.m. - All 7th grade students
1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. - All 8th grade students

The school will hold 6th grade orientation on Friday, August 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the South Tahoe Middle School gym. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a smile!
