COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials report another seven positive cases of COVID-19 today. Two are in the Lake Tahoe area, three in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue and two in El Dorado Hills. Of these, one is under the age of 18, two are aged 18-49, two aged 50-64 and two aged 65 or older.

Another 305 tests were administered. 298 negative test results were returned.

There are an assumed 11 more recoveries, bringing that total to 819.

No change to the hospitalization numbers with one hospitalized in the ICU. There is one suspected case in the hospital. There have been two deaths to date of county residents.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 2.8 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 72. The Lake Tahoe region is High (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater) along with El Dorado Hills. Much of the balance of the county is Moderate (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99).

County-wide there have been 942 cases with 437 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting four new cases and eleven additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 971, with 880 recoveries and fifteen deaths, 76 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A female Carson City resident under the age of 18 with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing for Quad-County Residents

There is one drive-thru COVID-19 testing event for Quad-County residents this week. Testing is free of charge; first come, first served, no appointments or reservations.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 73 new COVID-19 cases and three new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

There have been 23 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since yesterday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 22 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 71 (+0) in Kings Beach, 8 (+0) in Olympic Village, 17 (+0) in Truckee, 6 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 6.6 percent positive, and 14-day case rate is 71.2 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 3.9 percent, 14-day increase is 13.8 percent.
