COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another three residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, one is in El Dorado Hills, one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, and one in North County. Of these new cases, all are in the 18-49 age group. .

Another 244 people were tested for the coronavirus and 241 negative tests results were received.

There have been another nine assumed recoveries. One person has been discharged from the ICU, leaving nobody currently hospitalized with COVID-19 at Barton or Marshall hospitals. There are no suspected cases of COVID-19 in the hospital.

El Dorado County is currently in the red/substantial tier of reopening. To move to the orange/moderate tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be four per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than five percent for the previous two weeks. See more HERE.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 1.6 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 40 (+0). The Lake Tahoe region moved from the High (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater) to moderate with half of the rest of the county (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). The other half (4 regions) are in the low range (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,054 cases with 464 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting nine new cases and six additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,194, with 1,062 recoveries and fifteen deaths, 117 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A male Carson City resident in his 20’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 50’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 50’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 50’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 20’s with a connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 111 new COVID-19 cases and eight new deaths in Washoe County since Monday.

There have been 20 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since yesterday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 23 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 97 (+1) in Kings Beach, 9 (+0) in Olympic Valley, 17 (+0) in Truckee, 8 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 4.2 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 4.7 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 3.9 percent, 14-day increase is 9.7 percent.
