COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say there have been another 16 cases of COVID-19 since Friday, four in the Lake Tahoe region, five in El Dorado Hills, three in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue and Greater Placerville, and one in South County. Of those cases, one is under the age of 18, 12 ages 18-49, one aged 50-64 and two aged 65 or older.

An additional 468 people were tested. Another 452 negative tests results were returned and there were 21 assumed recoveries over the weekend.

One person remains hospitalized in the ICU. There are no suspected cases in the hospital.

To date, two county residents have died.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 25 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 62. The Lake Tahoe region is High (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater). Much of the balance of the county is Moderate (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99), though three areas are now in the low range (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 967 cases with 441 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting 31 new cases and 37 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region since Friday. This brings the total number of cases to 1,021, with 921 recoveries and fifteen deaths, 85 cases remain active.

The Monday cases are:
• A male Carson City resident in his 30’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident in his 30’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 80’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 30’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 50’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident under the age of 18 with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 30’s with no connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 235 new COVID-19 cases and three new deaths in Washoe County since Friday.

Placer County

There have been 151 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since Friday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 22 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 75 (+3) in Kings Beach, 8 (+0) in Olympic Village, 17 (+0) in Truckee, 6 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 6.2 percent positive, and 14-day case rate is 68.9 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 4.1 percent, 14-day increase is 14.3 percent.
