COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 11 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, four are in El Dorado Hills, four in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, one in North County and two in the Lake Tahoe Region.

Of these new cases, three are under the age of 18 and eight are in the 18-49 age group.

Another 224 people were tested for the coronavirus and 223 negative tests results were received.

There have been another two assumed recoveries. One person has been admitted to the ICU for COVID-19 and there are currently no suspected cases of COVID-19 in the hospital.

There have been four deaths in the county since the pandemic started.

El Dorado County has moved to the orange/moderate tier of reopening. To move to the next tier, the yellow/minimal tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be less than one per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than two percent for the previous two weeks. See more HERE.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 1.2 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 38 (+2). No county regions are in the High Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater), South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado Hills, Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, and Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue are in the Moderate range and were just joined by El Dorado/Diamond Springs, with the three remaining areas of the county in the low range (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,109 cases with 469 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting eight new cases and twelve additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,278, with 1,163 recoveries and sixteen deaths, 99 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A female Lyon County resident in her 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 294 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

There have been 7 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since yesterday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 25 (+1) are in Tahoe City, 110 (+0) in Kings Beach, 9 (+0) in Olympic Valley, 19 (+0) in Truckee, 8 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 3.1 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 4.2 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 3.4 percent, 14-day increase is 7.6 percent.
