COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another six residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, three are in El Dorado Hills, one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, one in Greater Placerville and one in the Lake Tahoe region. Of these new cases, four are in the 18-49 age group and two in the 50-64 group.

Another 218 people were tested for the coronavirus and 212 negative tests results were received.

There have been another two assumed recoveries. There are currently no COVID-19 patients hospitalized at Barton or Marshall hospitals and no suspected cases of COVID-19 in the hospital.

There have been four deaths in the county since the pandemic started.

El Dorado County is currently in the red/substantial tier of reopening. To move to the orange/moderate tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be four per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than five percent for the previous two weeks. See more HERE.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 1.3 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 36 (-2). No county regions are in the High Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater), South Lake Tahoe and half the county (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). The other half (4 regions) are in the low range (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,064 cases with 466 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting an additional death due to COVID-19. The individual was a male Lyon County resident in his 80’s with underlying conditions. CCHHS is also reporting eight new cases and six additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,225, with 1,078 recoveries and sixteen deaths, 131 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• An adult female Douglas County resident in her teens with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 20’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• An adult male Lyon County resident in his teens with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident in his 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 32 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 23 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 98 (+0) in Kings Beach, 9 (+0) in Olympic Valley, 19 (+0) in Truckee, 8 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 3.3 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 3.8 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 3.5 percent, 14-day increase is 8.2 percent.
