COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 31 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since Friday. Of those, eight are in El Dorado Hills, ten in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, three in North County, two in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, three in Greater Placerville and five in the Lake Tahoe Region.

This is the largest number of cases for a three-day period since the pandemic started.

Of these new cases, six are under the age of 18, 20 are in the 18-49 age group, four are aged 50-64 and one aged 65 or older.

Another 561 people were tested for the coronavirus and 530 negative tests results were received.

There have been another six assumed recoveries with 113 assumed active cases.

One person has been admitted to the ICU for COVID-19 and there are currently no suspected cases of COVID-19 in the hospital.

There have been four deaths in the county since the pandemic started.

El Dorado County has moved to the orange/moderate tier of reopening. To move to the next tier, the yellow/minimal tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be less than one per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than two percent for the previous two weeks. See more HERE.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 1.9 percent positivity from specimens collected between Sept. 15-21, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 51 (+13). No county regions are in the High Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater), South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado Hills, Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, and Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue are in the Moderate range and were just joined by El Dorado/Diamond Springs and North County, with the two remaining areas of the county in the low range (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,140 cases with 474 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

There is one drive-thru COVID-19 testing event for Quad-County residents this week. Testing is free of charge; first come, first served, no appointments or reservations.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 294 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths in Washoe County since Fridday.

There have been 45 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since Friday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 26 (+1) are in Tahoe City, 113 (+3) in Kings Beach, 9 (+0) in Olympic Valley, 19 (+0) in Truckee, 8 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 3.1 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 4.5 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 2.4 percent, 14-day increase is 8.4 percent.
