COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 13 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, six are in El Dorado Hills, one in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, two in the Greater Placerville area, and four in the Lake Tahoe Region.

The new cases: 2 are under the age of 18, 7 aged 18-49, 3 aged 50-64, and 1 aged 65 or older.

Another 343 people were tested for the coronavirus and 330 negative tests results were received.

There have been another six assumed recoveries with 150 assumed active cases.

There are currently no COVID-19 patients at Marshall or Barton hospitals, and no suspected cases of COVID-19.

There have been four deaths in the county since the pandemic started.

El Dorado Hills has moved up into the high tier of cases, and Placerville moved from up low to moderate tier. The Cameron Park area is close to moving up the high tier with 96 cases per 100,000 population.

El Dorado County has moved to the orange/moderate tier of reopening. To move to the next tier, the yellow/minimal tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be less than one per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than two percent for the previous two weeks.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 2.3 percent positivity (specimens collected between Sept. 24-30), and the 14-day rate of new cases is 69 (-3). El Dorado Hills have moved into the High Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater), South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado Hills, Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, and Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue are in the Moderate range and were just joined by El Dorado/Diamond Springs, North County, and Placerville, with South County the only area of the county in the low range (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,229 cases with 488 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting nineteen new cases and eleven additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,393, with 1,268 recoveries and 17 deaths, 108 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A male Douglas County resident in his 30’s with no connection to a previously reported case.

• A male Lyon County resident in his 30’s with a connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

For uninsured we ask for a $20 administration fee however no one will be turned away for the inability to pay. CCHHS is not contracted with Tricare or labor unions. The Regional Information Center is reporting 18 new COVID-19 cases and two new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

There have been 16 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since yesterday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 28 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 117 (+0) in Kings Beach, 9 (+0) in Olympic Valley, 19 (+0) in Truckee, 8 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 2.0 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 2.9 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 3.2 percent, 14-day increase is 5.8 percent.
