Reno's Street Vibrations see large crowds and fewer accidents

The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting a significant increase in highway traffic over the 4-day Street Vibrations event held this past weekend. While there were more bikes on the road, NHP reports only one injury accident that involved a motorcycle and two DUI arrests for motorcyclists, one in Carson City and Lyon County.

The NHP says there were expecting an increase in accidents along the highways around Reno and Lake Tahoe with an estimated 50,000 to 100,000 Street Vibration participants in town.

Comparing the statistics for the same categories from last year’s Street Vibrations NHP saw a decrease in accidents and other traffic violations. Compared to last year’s Street Vibrations event Northern Nevada had rain and cooler temperatures settle in the area which is believed to have helped in the decrease of accidents. Most riders seemed to slow down and use extra caution while traveling the highways in the Reno-Sparks, Carson City and Virginia City areas.

The NHP considers this year’s event to be a success in regards to the zero fatalities campaign. NHP did not investigate any fatal accidents Northern Nevada during the Street Vibrations 4 day event.
