Over 100 volunteers spent 2,000 hours this summer helping to finish the last leg of a multi-year project that connects the Tahoe Rim Trail to Northern Nevada communities.
On Tuesday, October 14, the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) will celebrate the completion of a new trail to the summit of Mt. Houghton from the Rim Trail at Relay Ridge. Volunteers built .7 miles of trail from Mt. Rose to the Thomas Creek Trailhead which increases recreational access in the Mt. Rose area.
TRTA will be shuttling registered attendees to a ceremony at Relay Ridge on Tuesday at 11 a.m. The first trail sign will be installed and the group will take a hike on the new trail. The event is full but a waiting list has been started on the TRTA website.
