South Tahoe High student photography on display at City Hall

Award winning photography by South Tahoe High School (STHS) students is now on display at the Lake Tahoe Airport's art gallery.
Some of the photographers were on hand a reception hosted by the City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Arts Alliance on Monday, the second since the gallery was opened in June of this year. Work of local artists will hang on the walls at the entrance of City Hall at the airport throughout the year and will be rotated quarterly.
All of the photographs on the walls were created by STHS students while participating in teacher Candy Lincoln's digital arts classes. Some have since graduated.
New STHS Principal Carline Sinkler was on hand to greet the community and photographers. "Arts is where we bring out the best of our kids," she said.
She also recalled a recent conversation she had with Lincoln. "She said, I don't teach photography, I teach self expression," said Sinkler.
SLT Mayor Austin Sass was also at the reception with City Councilwomen Wendy David and Brooke Laine, City Manager Nancy Kerry and other City staff and community members.
"You make us really proud," said Sass to the students.
