STHS girls soccer team meets Truckee in state championship; Volleyball state run ends

UPDATE: South Tahoe started with the first goal of the match and led at the half 3-1 over Truckee. The second half was a different story and they couldn't score. Truckee wins State with their 4-3. South Tahoe is second best in state...a great reward for your year-long efforts Vikings and we can't wait for next year!

It is state championship season for fall sports with both the girls soccer and volleyball teams from South Tahoe High School.
The South Tahoe High varsity team is in Las Vegas for the 2018 NIAA 3A State Girls Soccer tournament after they earned the #1 seed from the north last weekend.
Their semi-final opponent was Western High of Las Vegas who entered the Friday night game as the #2 seed from the south. STHS Vikings held Western scoreless and won by a score of 2-0.
Their opponent in Saturday's final game will be a familiar foe of theirs, the Truckee High Wolverines who beat Pahrump Valley 7-0. The Vikings have a regular season record of 23-2, with a 17-1 regular season tally. Truckee's regular season record is 19-5 with a 16-2 league record. During the season the two teams met three times, twice during regular action and the third at November 3rd's playoff game. South Tahoe High beat Truckee on September 25 4-1, lost to them on October 25 2-1 and beat them in playoffs 2-1.
Game time is noon.
The South Tahoe High girls volleyball team was in Reno Friday for the first round of the 2018 NIAA 3A State Volleyball tournament at Bishop Manogue High. Their opponent for the semi-finals was Boulder City, the #1 seed from the south.
Boulder took the first seat 25-15 and a close second one 25-20. Things changed for the Vikings in set three, beating the south 25-23. Another close set didn't go in the Vikings favor, losing the match to Boulder 26-24.
Truckee advances to Saturday's state final after beating Moapa Valley 3-0.
The Vikings had a great season on their way to state with a league record of 14-4.
