South Tahoe High runner headed to St. Mary's College

It all started when she joined her mom on Saturday runs while in elementary school. By third grade she was hooked and by fifth grade she found she loved to compete in track meets. In middle school she loved the "Pumpkin Runs" and through high school she consistently made it regional and state meets.

Today, South Tahoe High Senior Ally Sullivan signed a letter of intent to attend St. Mary's College to run on their Division 1 track team. Joined by parents Dan and Deni Sullivan, and brothers Josh and Matt, Ally signed in front of coaches and friends.

"She is a dedicated runner," coach Nicki Neira said of Ally. "She also likes to have fun and doesn't take it too seriously."

As Ally looks back at her career so far, she picks out the Clovis Invitational during her sophomore year as her favorite. "That was the best race I could have run," said Ally. "It felt amazing the whole race." A week later she placed first in the Sparks Railroaders Invitational, and a few weeks later she had a fifth place finish at the NIAA Nevada State Championships.

As Ally heads off to St. Mary's College she is leaning towards majoring in Kinesiology but also likes International Business. She'll also get a lot of experience as a Gael running against other top teams like UCLA, Stanford and USF.
