COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officers announced 36 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 6 are in El Dorado Hills, 4 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 14 in Greater Placerville, -2 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 0 in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 0 in North County, 2 in South County, 8 in Lake Tahoe region. One of those new cases, -1 are under the age of 18, 24 are age 18-49, 7 are aged 50-64, and 6 aged 65 or older. Total date of birth unknown: 4

There have been another 161 assumed recoveries with 1,655 assumed active cases.

There have been an additional 376 negative results received. Negative test disclaimer: Whereas laboratory-confirmed case numbers reflect only El Dorado County residents, negative results may also include some non-El Dorado County residents whose tests were performed within the county. Total negative results include results for individuals who have been tested more than once. This differs from the count of total confirmed cases, as individuals who test positive on multiple occasions are only counted as a single case. For this reason, these two numbers (total confirmed cases and total negative test results) are not comparable and should not be used together to calculate a positivity rate. Only PCR or NAAT tests (tests that detect viral RNA) are included in this estimate of "Total Negative Test Results". Antigen tests and antibody (serology) tests are not included in this estimate.

There are currently 29 COVID-19 patients hospitalized with 10 of them in the ICU at Barton and Marshall. According to the State's website, 11 of the non-ICU patients and 5 of the ICU patients are in Barton, with 18/5 at Marshall. There are no suspected cases at either hospital. Also according to the State website, Barton has 3 available ICU beds, Marshall 1, but as previously shared before, each hospital can expand their capacity.

There has been an additional death, bringing the total for El Dorado County residents from COVID-19 to 22. A woman from El Dorado Hills, aged 65 or older, has died.

The county moved into the purple tier November 17 and started the Stay-at-Home order December 10. It is in place until 11:59 p.m. on 12.31.20.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified abou.t the new case. The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 11.9 percent positivity and the 14-day rate of new cases is 690 (-47).

The individuals were:

• A female Carson City resident in her 70’s
• A male Lyon County resident in his 50’s

We are also reporting 99 new cases and 97 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 9,090, with 4,449 recoveries and 114 deaths; 4,527 cases remain active.

In Douglas County there are currently 6 (+0) people hospitalized with COVID-19 with 6 (+6) of them in the ICU along with 6 suspected cases. 25% of ICU beds are occupied.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 451 new COVID-19 cases and 9 new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

Their seven-day test rate is 11.8 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 49.4 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 8.4 percent, 14-day increase is 25.5 percent.
