The monthly board meeting of the Tahoe Paradise Resort Improvement District Board of Directors will be held on Thursday, September 28 from 6:00 p.m. to- 8:00 p.m. at the park's clubhouse at 1011 E. San Bernardino in Meyers.

On the agenda will be an update on the addition of a new cell phone tower in the park, the selection of a contractor for beach and parking updates, Music in the Park 2018, a park host for next summer as well as employee reviews and raises.

The public is invited. An open comment period for non-agenda items will be at the beginning of the meeting.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The 24th annual Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe Golf Classic will be held Monday, October 16 at Edgewood Tahoe.

The Golf Classic is the premier fundraiser for the Club and this year their Board of Directors has a goal of raising over $60,000 for the children of the community.

After an extensive search and interview process the Tahoe Resource Conservation District board of directors has unanimously appointed Nicole Cartwright as its Executive Director to lead the agency.

Ms. Cartwright has been with the agency for ten years and has served the Tahoe RCD in a variety of increasingly responsible positions.

The monthly meeting of the Tahoe Paradise Resort Improvement District Board of Directors will be held on Thursday, August 31 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the park's clubhouse.

South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue Chief Jeff Meston has been elected as president-elect of the California Fire Chief's Association (CalChiefs). The 925 voting members of the association voted for Meston during their recent election period that concluded August 4.

This is not only the first time a chief from South Lake Tahoe has been elected to the state's top spot, but also the first time anyone has from cities along the Sierra Nevada.

"I am rally humbled and very much thrilled," Chief Meston said of his appointment.

The monthly meeting of the Tahoe Paradise Resort Improvement District (TPRID) Board of Directors will take place on Thursday, July 27 at 6:00 p.m. at the Paradise Park clubhouse.

Members of the public are invited and comment on both agenda items or other matters.

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. - Four members of the faculty at Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) are being honored for their outstanding work in the classroom and their dedication to students.

LTCC business instructor Treva Thomas was chosen by her fellow faculty members as the Distinguished Faculty Award winner for 2017, math and physics instructor Bruce Armbrust was tapped by LTCC’s students as their choice for Teacher of the Year, and adjunct instructor/Work Experience and Internship Coordinator Jenna Palacio was selected by faculty members as Adjunct Instructor of the Year.

A meeting of the Tahoe Paradise Resort Improvement District Board of Directors will be held on Thursday, June 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the park's clubhouse located at 1011 E. San Bernardino Ave in Meyers.

The Board of Directors of Tahoe Paradise Resort Improvement District (TPRID) will hold a special meeting on June 15, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Paradise Park to hear public comments, and to consider whether to request that the El Dorado Local Agency Formation Commission convert the district from a “Resort Improvement District” to a “Recreation and Park District.”

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) is planning to more than double their current cloud seeding program over the American River watershed from the current 190 square miles to 444 square miles.

Since 1968, SMUD has been involved in the practice of cloud seeding in El Dorado, Amador, and Placer counties to benefit electricity generation in the Upper American River Project (UARP) in Eldorado National Forest.

The Board of Directors of Saint Joseph Community Land Trust wishes to acknowledge a generous donation in the amount of $25,000. This donation is from an anonymous donor through Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation located in Incline Village, Nevada.

Saint Joseph CLT is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals and families who cannot otherwise afford housing, by acquiring real estate and developing programs to benefit communities in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

For 50 years the Lake Tahoe Humane Society has offered services to animals in the South Lake Tahoe community. They are now facing challenges after their Executive Director Niki Congero was fired when allegations of embezzlement arose when their bank called them about irregular activity on the agency's debit card.

The public is invited to a budget meeting of the South Tahoe Public Utility District (STPUD) Board of Directors on Thursday, May 4 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the STPUD board room at 1275 Meadow Crest Drive in South Lake Tahoe.

The purpose of the meeting is to review the proposed 2017-18 budget and ten-year financial and capital improvement plan for the District.

South Tahoe Public Utility District's (STPUD) new hydro-power generating unit at their Diamond Valley Ranch facility in Alpine County is expected to start commercial operations on October 1, 2017. When it goes on line they will start selling power generated from the recycled water flowing down from the top of Luther Pass towards their storage reservoir to Liberty Utilities.

A newly formed entity controlled by ski resort operator Aspen Skiing Company, LLC and private equity firm KSL Capital Partners, owners of Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows, will buy Intrawest Resorts Holdings for about $1.5 billion including debt, it was announced Monday.

Intrawest Resorts Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: SNOW) is a leading North American mountain resort and adventure company.

A public meeting will be held by the Tahoe Paradise Resort Improvement District Board of Directors on Thursday, February 23 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the park located at 1011 E. San Bernardino in Meyers.

In order to be a successful community on the South Shore, the state line needs to become a blur and both sides need to work together. There should be no "us" and "them" but a collective "we."

When travelers come to Lake Tahoe they don't see a state line, or a direction on the compass, they see a beautiful recreational paradise that just a few people are able to call home, but millions can call a vacation destination.

With three productions a year, and just seven degrees issued in five years, Lake Tahoe Community College is looking at eliminating their theater program and moving toward a community theater model.

Theater staff at the college were advised on Tuesday that LTCC administration is recommending to the Board of Trustees that they’re recommending discontinuing the theater program.

Over the past 1.5 years, administrators have been going through a process that included research on program vitality at the college.

The Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority (LTVA) in partnership with NBC Sports and American Century Investments had over $110,000 to give out to South Lake Tahoe area groups, schools and non-profits after the end of the 2016 tournament.

They previously awarded $62,000 and is now looking for non-profits to get the remaining $51,984.

Applications from local nonprofits are now being accepted through Oct. 24 by LTVA for the grants.

The annual SnowGlobe Music Festival is here to stay, at least for now.

During Tuesday's South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting, promoter Chad Donnelly went before the elected officials, asking them for a three year extension of the annual festival until 2019 (though they would ultimately like a deal until 2027), and more money from the City to help with the costs of garbage pick-up and transportation for the three-day event which runs from December 29-31 each year.

What the City gave him was not quite what he was asking for as he got more cash, but less time.
