The Scorpions headed to Lake Tahoe outdoor concert series

The lineup for the annual Lake Tahoe Summer Concert Series at Harveys Outdoor Arena is filling up. The latest acts to sign on are the venerable German hard rock and heavy metal band Scorpions with their opening act, Queensryche, on Friday night, Aug. 31. Tickets are $69.50 to $149.50.

Southern California-based band Slightly Stoopid will return to the South Shore to kick-off the 2018 Lake Tahoe Summer Concert Series at Harveys Outdoor Arena on Saturday, June 16 at 5:00 p.m.

Collaboration key to keeping all sides happy with SnowGlobe

Rudolph "Rudy" Pakes, Sr. June 4, 1926 ~ February 14, 2018

Rudolph M. Pakes Sr, 91, passed away peacefully and with grace in his home on February 14, 2018 his family by his side.

Rudy was born on June 4, 1926 in Belle Valley, Ohio. His parents Andrew Pakes and Susan Krempasky immigrated from what was then Czechoslovakia for the promise of the “American Dream.” They met and married in Belle Valley, where Andrew worked in the coalmines. Rudy had 5 brothers and 3 sisters. He had a wonderful childhood in Ohio, all of his siblings attended K-12 in a one-room schoolhouse.

LTCC accreditation extended for 7 more years

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIF. - Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) has just received the highest level of accreditation possible from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC). The commission reaffirmed the college’s accreditation for seven years on the basis of a comprehensive evaluation. This reaffirmation puts the college in excellent standing until its next full accreditation review in Fall 2024.

Hundreds working behind the scene to keep all safe at SnowGlobe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIF. - Leading up to SnowGlobe, days have been filled with meetings and emergency drills, staffing instructions and planning, all to create a safe atmosphere for the thousands of people in South Lake Tahoe for the three-day music festival.

As the show got underway Friday, December 26, there was a heavy presence of law enforcement and safety personnel, though many of them could not be detected as they moved about the venue in plain clothes. A drone was also in the air, surveying the crowd below.

An Old-Fashioned Holiday Open House at Dangberg Historic Park

The exhibit includes toys from the 1870s through the 1890s that were played with by Fred Dangberg, Jr., and his siblings, as well as numerous toys enjoyed by Fred’s five children and one grandson from the 1900s through the 1940s.

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Dave Mason stops by Lake Tahoe on world tour

For over 50 years, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Dave Mason has been entertaining crowds, from his days as a founding member of Traffic, to his current days touring the world with his band.

He'll be on the South Shore Sunday night as he stops by Harrah's Tahoe as part of his "Alone Together" tour.

Mason took time this week to talk to South Tahoe Now as he traveled from Oregon to Washington, both stops on his tour before heading to South Lake Tahoe.

New Valhalla Tahoe "Evening on the Lawn" concerts this summer

Stateline casinos to charge for parking during Summer Concert Series & special events

Harrah’s and Harveys Lake Tahoe announced today that they will start charging for those using their parking lots and valet services during concerts, special events and holidays.

Their new parking policy starts on June 30. It will cost $20 to self-park and $25 to use valet parking. Cash and credit cards will be both accepted for payment.

MontBleu Resort currently charges $10 for those parking during the Harveys' concerts, but that is returned to driving using the lot in the form of free play coupons. Hard Rock Tahoe also charges non-hotel guests $5 - $20 depends on the event.

Zalanta in South Lake Tahoe celebrates grand opening

The Zalanta Resort at the Village celebrated the completion of their first phase Tuesday with a grand opening and ribbon cutting for local dignitaries.

On what was formerly known as "the hole," Zalanta is the first whole ownership luxury condominium residences in the Lake Tahoe Basin since Lakeland Village was completed 30 years ago.

The 30 residences are all one-story and available in 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom units. The cheapest unit, priced at $950,000, and the most expensive at $2.125M have both sold as well as several other residences. The second phase will add another 60 residences.

Linkin Park announced their One More Light World Tour today, and they'll be making a stop at the lake on Friday, September 1 at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys.

They will hit the stage with special guest Machine Gun Kelly.

In an effort to put tickets into the hands of real fans, first access to tickets for the One More Light World Tour will be reserved exclusively for fans – not scalpers or bots, just as Eric Church has done with his tour (he follows Linkin Park on September 2 and 3).

South Lake Tahoe community help needed during Spring Clean up Day

Eric Church heads to the South Shore for two shows at outdoor arena

Country music singer/songwriter Eric Church has announced the second half of his 2017 "Holdin' My Own" tour, and it begins on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe which he makes a stop at the Outdoor Concert Arena at Harveys on September 2 and 3.

Each show begins at 7:00 p.m.

Church's 62 stop tour has been thrilling audiences with three-hours of top music. It is unknown at this time what opening act(s), if any, will be with Church when he starts the final eight shows of 2017 in Lake Tahoe.

Ticketmaster will be selling tickets to the public on May 19.

The Who is added to Lake Tahoe music series at Harvey Outdoor Arena

The Who has just been announced as the latest act coming to South Lake Tahoe on August 16 as part of the Lake Tahoe Summer Concert Series at the Harveys Outdoor Arena.

Kristel Kimball of Harrah's Tahoe and Nick Breaux, the regional VP of Marketing for Harrah's Entertainment, broke the news with Howie Nave during Howie's Morning Rush radio show on KRLT-FM.

The English band, formed in 1964, is considered one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century, selling over 100 million records worldwide and holding a reputation for their live shows and studio work.

Heavenly launches two-week long celebration of Spring

Jack Johnson adds second outdoor concert in South Lake Tahoe

Popular singer-songwriter Jack Johnson has added a second show on the South Shore as part of the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Music Series at the Harveys Arena. His special blend of music will now be featured on both July 28 and 29.

For the first time since 2014, Jack Johnson is taking his chart-topping catalog on the road for a North American summer tour with guests ALO. the end of his tour will be at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena. Tickets are $64.22 each and are currently on sale for his first show and they go on sale March 24, with presale options starting the previous day.

Lenny Kravitz latest act added to Lake Tahoe Outdoor Concert Series

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. - There are now eight nights of summer concerts scheduled for the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena. Lenny Kravitz is the latest to book and will head to the South Shore July 14 for an 8:00 p.m. show at the arena at Harveys. Pre-sale tickets go on sale March 22, general public sales March 24.

Kravitz will be one of two artists booked to perform on the outside stage during the annual American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament in South Lake Tahoe July 11-16, 2017. Third Eye Blind plays after the final round.

Jack Johnson latest entertainer announced for Lake Tahoe outdoor arena at Harveys

And then there were three.

The third concert booked for the summer of 2017 for the Harvey's Lake Tahoe Outdoor Concert series has been announced. On July 28, singer-songwriter Jack Johnson will perform as part of his summer tour, bringing his popular blend of music to the South Shore. Presale ticket sales begin February 15 with public sales on February 17.

He joins Train with O.A.R. and Third Eye Blind as acts booked so far for the popular concert series.

Major project in store for Kings Beach, public comment sought

Plans for an upgrade to the recreational facilities at Kings Beach State Recreation Area were unveiled during a public meeting last week. The project includes upgrades to the playground, restrooms, picnic areas, boat ramp and parking area, a relocation of the pier and the addition of an event area and stage, all over the next 20 years.

The California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and the California Tahoe Conservancy (Conservancy) held the meeting to get public feedback, and for those unable to attend the comment/feedback period is available online until February 15, 2017.

Tower of Power heads to South Shore after two band members hit by train

Two musicians with the legendary Bay Area R&B band Tower of Power remain hospitalized after being hit by an Amtrak train in Oakland on January 12. The other band members will still be performing on the South Shore at Harrah's Tahoe February 3 and 4.

The band's longtime drummer, 70-year-old Dave Garibaldi, is listed in "fair condition" but will remain hospitalized for a few more days as he recovers from head and facial injuries.

First artist announced for South Lake Tahoe's summer concert series

Third Eye Blind will be celebrating their 20th Anniversary with Summer Gods Tour at Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harvey's on July 16, 2017. This is the first concert announced for the popular summer concerts.

Their supporting act(s) have not been announced.

Third Eye Blind will, for the first time in their storied history, play their debut album, considered one of the great rock records of all time, in its entirety, as part of a night of music including their latest, We Are Drugs. They are touring 31 cities as part of the the tour.

Could more concerts be held at the SLT Community Fields in the future?

During Tuesday's City Council meeting, Paul Reder of PR Entertainment will make a presentation about the possibility of his company holding one or two concerts a year on the South Lake Tahoe Community play fields.

Reder, the owner of The Loft at Heavenly Village, is also the man behind the Reggae Festival and Electronic Dance Music's (EDM) Bass Camp Festival, both held on the South Shore.

South Lake Tahoe ranks first in most expensive place in California to spend New Year's Eve

South Lake Tahoe is on top of a list that perhaps isn't the best list to be on as the area it is now the most expensive destination in California to spend New Year's Eve 2016.

The region is a very popular one with skiing, concerts, and bars and restaurants where can ring in the new year from.

According to a recent survey by LosAngelesHotels.org, the average overnight stay in SLT is $345 for the most affordable room. They took the rate for the cheapest available double room at a 3-star hotel (or above) at 20 popular destinations for the holiday in the state.

Grant funds in the amount of $504,230 were awarded to agencies and groups across rural Nevada to be used to develop, promote and improve tourism to and within the State of Nevada, and some is headed to the South Shore.
