The fourth season of Live at Lakeview begins on Thursday, June 25th with dual Lake Tahoe debut performances from the Bay Area's Raymond Victor Band and The Jonny Gold Trio from Davis, CA.
“A close family friend, who manages Big Brother & The Holding Company, recommended The Raymond Victor Band after I expressed our desire for that authentic Chicago Blues sound,” states Leslie Schultz of On Course Events. “ After hearing the grittiness in Raymond’s voice as he jams on the keys, we knew this was the perfect fit for Live at Lakeview!”
Local families present inaugural Rock Tahoe Half Marathon

including runners, friends, and family to South Lake Tahoe this weekend as they Run, Rock, and Recover in this one of a kind event.
On Saturday, June 20, 2,000 runners will take off along the 13.1-mile course from Spooner Summit and wind their way down Highway 50 along the East Shore of Lake Tahoe to the finish line at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe. The course will also take runners off the highway along the newly completed forest bike path from Round Hill Pines to Kahle Drive.

Every quarter, the Lake Tahoe Community College Music Department puts on a final exam that truly rocks. Traditionally, Rock Ensemble students studying with teacher and professional musician Eric Hellberg stage a concert to earn their final grades.
This Spring, students in LTCC’s New Wave Music and Beginning Rock Ensemble classes will be rocking for an even higher purpose: their final exams will also serve as a benefit concert to support a fellow rocker in need.

The Optimist Club will be holding the 12th annual “Day In Paradise” at Tahoe Paradise Park in Meyers on June 27. The event includes duck races, pancake breakfast, car show, barbecue featuring Overland Meats burgers, barbecued ribs and hot dogs.
There will be a beer garden and live music by Pre Flight and Deep Fried Mojo. There will also be free games and prizes available for youth. All proceeds go back to the community to support local youth. The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Duck gates open at 10 a.m. with the first race starting at 11 a.m.

Tahoe Douglas Rotary awards $14,000 in scholarships

The winners are:
The Whittell High School students granted a scholarship this year for academic achievements were Subrina Trachsel, Mikayla Warner, and Bryce Bronken. The vocational scholarship went to Stephanie Martin.
At South Tahoe High School. Michael Herring and Corey McCarthy were each awarded vocational scholarship of $2,000 each.

Broadway hit musical Pippin featured on LTCC stage

Free concerts every Friday and Saturday at Heavenly Village

This annual series of live music takes place every Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. The stage rotates around the village from in front of Starbucks and Basecamp Pizza, to the fountain and in front along Highway 50.

The party will feature the grand re-opening of their Fritzi & David Huntington Environmental Education Center. Featuring cutting-edge interactive displays, the Education Center’s overhaul has improved the agency's ability to educate and engage the public about how to protect Lake Tahoe and the threats facing the Lake.

Weekly farmers markets in South Lake Tahoe

The Tuesday market runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is operated by El Dorado County Farmers' Markets and is held at the American Legion located at 2732 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

66th Annual Wagon Train heads through South Lake Tahoe

A glimpse of times gone by will be moving along roads Sunday morning as the 66th Annual Wagon Train ride begins their week long trek from Zephyr Cove, NV to Placerville, CA.
In the early 1850's, pioneers crossed the Sierra Nevada into California, traversing what we now know as Echo Summit and the Highway 50 corridor. This route became known as the "Roaring Road" where travel was so heavy, oftentimes wagon trains were forced to wait for days to have their turn on the road.

Native Species Festival at Taylor Creek Visitor Center

The Sixth Annual Native Species Festival will be held at the Taylor Creek visitor Center in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, May 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This free family event is hosted by the U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit and is a great way to spend the day outdoors and learn about the native species of the Lake Tahoe Basin.
The Visitor's Center is located three miles north of South Lake Tahoe on Highway 89.

Veterans honored at South Lake Tahoe memorial ceremony
Submitted by paula on Mon, 05/25/2015 - 6:23pm"Keep us humble of heart, unselfish in purpose," were some of the words spoken by Chaplain Curt Emrie at the South Lake Tahoe Memorial Day ceremony held Monday at Happy Homestead Cemetery.
About 100 people gathered to honor those who not only gave the ultimate sacrifice in the country's wars, but for those who served in the Armed Forces.
550 flags had been placed on the grave sites of veterans, placed there by members of the South Lake Tahoe American Legion Post and the SLT Moose Lodge.
During Monday's ceremony there were speakers, music and shared memories.

23rd Annual Renaissance Faire coming to South Lake Tahoe

Queens from foreign lands, juggling jesters, winsome wenches, lords and ladies, knight of horseback, squires and simpletons will all converge in South Lake Tahoe over two weekends for the 23rd annual Valhalla Renaissance Faire. Camp Richardson is turned into a Renaissance village for the popular event that draws several thousand people during the two weekend run.
The fun costumed festival will be held May 30 and 31, and June 5, 6 and 7.

Lake Tahoe Community College’s student-led business club, the Future Business Leaders of Tahoe, is hosting the 2nd Annual LTCC Community Games on Saturday, May 30 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. in LTCC’s Fitness Education Center on campus. This event-filled day will include a table tennis competition, kickball tournaments, dodgeball tournaments, a silent auction, raffle, food and drink, and live music.
10th Annual Tahoe Bike Challenge starts June 1

In an effort to create an event that provides a safe, and sober, event that all seniors can enjoy after their graduation ceremony, the South Tahoe High Sober Grad Night committee has been working for months to make the evening a night to remember.

LTCC holds Annual Student Art Exhibition

Students from the art department at Lake Tahoe Community College will be displaying their creations at the annual Student Art Exhibition held throughout the campus from May 17 through June 19.
To kick off the show there will be an opening reception on Sunday, May 17 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. with music, refreshments, and a 3:30 p.m. awards ceremony. It is free to attend and open to the public.
The exhibition is showcasing up-and-coming South Lake Tahoe artists who have been enrolled in art classes at LTCC during the past academic year. T

What started as a project started in a Southern California dorm room by a South Tahoe High graduate has grown into an organization that helps out those in need throughout Africa.
John Cefalu was just 18 years old when he started making soap in his dorm room. He decided to leave the world better than he had found it. Those small efforts in the dorm were the beginnings of Health 2 Humanity.

Countdown to Amgen: Best viewing spots

With the start and finish line at Heavenly’s California Base Lodge, spectators will be updated with live race announcements, and entertained with high-energy music, local and Amgen Tour of California exhibitors, food and beverage.

Lake Tahoe SummerFest’s fourth season, “Passport to a World of Music,” will bring Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn to audiences July 31 – Aug. 16 (www.TahoeSummerFest.org). The three weekend series of nine different concerts will transport attendees through masterpieces translated by renowned artists and a nationally acclaimed orchestra of 40 players.

Northstar's summer activities launch May 15

The Northstar Golf Course opens on May 15 with the rest of the extensive variety of summer adventure following with a May 22 grand opening.
Memorial Day Weekend marks the grand summer opening of the mountain bike park, hiking trails, and all activities, dining and shopping offered throughout The Village at Northstar.
