These 12 mountains include Crested Butte, Snowbasin Resort, Sierra-at-Tahoe, Stevens Pass, Timberline, Schweitzer, China Peak, Mountain High, Arizona Snowbowl, Mt Hood Skibowl, Angel Fire Resort, and Bridger Bowl.

Taylor Creek Visitor Center hosts bird and native species festivals

Residents and visitors are invited to attend these free family events from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center, located three miles north of South Lake Tahoe on Highway 89.

Customer Appreciation Day is all about celebrating the season with fun stories of a season gone by and smiles.
Skiers and riders of all ages can purchase a lift ticket for only $25 on April 15. All of the proceeds raised from the day’s lift ticket sales will be donated to sponsor youth recreation and education including youth baseball, soccer, swimming, and other youth activities.
Bijou Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe has earliest opening day in history

“We’ve never had the opportunity to open this early due to seasonal weather, so we are very excited to have these Spring conditions early in the year so that the golfers can start early,” said Parks Supervisor Greg Ross.
The golf course will remain open subject to weather closures for the rest of the season. Current residential rates are $15 for 9 holes and $12 for 9 holes at twilight.

Tied to the birth of freesking, Hall is well accomplished with multiple X Games gold medals in both slopestyle and superpipe. An international team of scientists presents these and other findings in a study published Friday, Dec. 21, in the journal Science. The 70-member team included nine researchers from UC Davis, along with scientists from the SETI Institute, NASA and other institutions.

Eric caught a 28-pound, 9-ounce Mackinaw trout at Lake Tahoe on Dec. 9, at 10:30 a.m. Photos courtesy of Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters.
The Lake Tahoe record for Mackinaw Trout is a 37-pound, 6-ounce (44 inches in length) trophy caught by Robert Aronsen, way back in 1974. To date, only a handful of Macks have been caught that have weighed 30 pounds or more.
