SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Lisa Maloff, the "Angel of Tahoe", continues to support agencies, institutions and the South Lake Tahoe community with her generosity and year-round holiday spirit.
On Saturday, December 16, Lisa teamed up with Tahoe Youth and Family Services and Tahoe Douglas Rotary in providing a special children's holiday celebration at Lake Tahoe Community College. Over 100 children from Tahoe Youth, Live Violence Free, the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe, Family Resource Center and Sierra Child and Family Services attended the event that included food and treats from Katie Martin and her George Whittell High School Culinary Program students. Tahoe Douglas Fire Department also came to the party and set up their ladder truck for the kids to enjoy outside.
Lisa, in her role as Mrs. Santa, greeted every child with a "Merry Christmas," a gift, a warm smile and a hug.
“This event is a true community effort – from the continued generosity of Mrs. Maloff and our friends at Tahoe Douglas Rotary who worked with us side-by-side as a partner in planning, we are thrilled to once again help make Christmas special for the children in our community,” said states Karen Carey, executive director at Tahoe Youth.
Mrs. Maloff has made sizeable donations to both organizations and one of her requests was to help make the holiday season special for our local kids, the second consecutive year she has helped spread the cheer at this Christmas party.
“From us at Tahoe Douglas Rotary and our friends at Tahoe Youth, we want to thank Katie Martin and the George Whittell High School Culinary Program for catering the event, The Barton Foundation for graciously lending us the beautiful holiday decorations, LTCC for the venue and all the help coordinating, and Gina Stowell for providing her incredible face painting skills to our young guests. We also want to thank all the volunteers that have given time and energy to help make this event possible. This is truly a beautiful community event that we are all very proud of,” shared Jenny Buscher, past-president of Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club.
For over two decades the Rotary club has hosted a dinner with gifts and a special visit from Santa Claus for local youth at Christmas, and this year teamed up with Mrs. Maloff and Tahoe Youth for a special holiday party.
