Angel of Tahoe helps spread holiday joy in South Lake Tahoe for a third year

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Tahoe Youth & Family Services (TYFS) helped spread cheer this season by hosting a special children’s holiday party on Saturday, December 14 at the Lake Tahoe Community College. This event was a collaboration made possible by the generosity and giving heart of the ‘Angel of Tahoe,’ Mrs. Lisa Maloff. For the third year in a row, Mrs. Maloff made a sizeable donation to Tahoe Youth & Family Services with the request for the agency to help make the holiday season special for local children.

More than 100 children were invited to attend by Tahoe Youth & Family Services, Live Violence Free, the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe and the Tahoe Family Resource Center. Each child received a gift from Santa Claus, decorated holiday cookies and enjoyed a delicious spread of kid-friendly food prepared by Katie Martin and her George Whittell High School Culinary Program. Each child also left with a goodie bag.

“This event was a true community effort – from the continued generosity of Mrs. Maloff and our friends at the Lake Tahoe Community College," said TYFS Executive Director Karen Carey. "We were thrilled to once again help make Christmas special for the children in our community."

Normally Lisa joins in the day's festivities as Mrs. Santa but was unable to this year.

"We were excited again to work with Katie Martin and the George Whittell High School Culinary Program for catering the event. The Barton Foundation for graciously lending us the beautiful holiday decorations, Lake Tahoe Community College for the venue and all the help coordinating, and Gina Stowell for providing her incredible face painting skills to our young guests. We also want to thank all the volunteers from Just Serve including Santa Claus and the Tahoe Youth & Family Services Fundraising committee that gave of their time and energy to help make this event possible," added Carey.
