SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Gym Love will be hosting its first Community Day on Wednesday, November 30 at South of North from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. They will be making tie blankets for the Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless (TCH) and hanging out together as a community.

Bring your family and friends and enjoy some music, desserts, and South of North’s delicious food and drinks. It will be $5 a person which will be going towards the TCH housing and homeless programs. This includes all the supplies and desserts!

South of North is located at 932 Stateline Avenue, South Lake Tahoe.

MEYERS, Calif. - The annual Meyers tree lighting event is scheduled for December 2 at 5 p.m. The tree is being decorated with more lights than ever before!

Santa will be dropped off by CalStar, as long as they aren't on an emergency flight. There will be hot cocoa, popcorn, a photo opportunity with Santa, and music. Lake Valley Fire will be there in their decorated and lit truck!

Bring your family and friends for a fun-filled evening complete with great Meyers Vibes.

The tree lighting is in front of the Divided Sky, 3200 US Highway 50.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A large fir tree made its way through South Lake Tahoe Wednesday morning, escorted by the California Highway Patrol and South Lake Tahoe Police Department from the airport to its destination at Heavenly Village.

For seven years, Kenny Curtzwiler of K & K Services has gone in search of the "perfect tree" for the community, normally scouting it out a year or two before it's needed. Many times the tree comes from a forest thinning project, and Kenny asks if it could remain until needed.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless (TCH) has announced they received an incredibly generous donation from Kyle and Jessica Aster. The Asters made a donation of $100,000 that will help with their operational shortfall as winter begins. These funds are helping at a
critical time as temperatures plummet, more snow is on the way, and they are under renovations on rooms for new tenants. Currently, forty rooms are housing vulnerable members of our community, and twenty more units will be available in 2023.

Dressing up for Halloween is always fun for both kids and adults alike. With Bread & Broth’s Monday Meal falling on Halloween this year, wearing costumes was a fun treat for the team members from Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) who came to host and volunteer at the October 31 evening dinner. Dressed as a dinosaur, skeleton, cowgirl, and mouse respectively, Dan Segan, Bridget Cornell, Victoria Ortiz, and Rebecca Cremeen brought both a hot meal and a smile to the faces of the evening’s dinner guests.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Come join your friends and neighbors for the Saint Joseph Community Land Trust's annual free pre-Thanksgiving Spaghetti Dinner on Thursday, November 17 from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and entertainment until 8 p.m. It will be held at Grace Hall, Saint Theresa Church in South Lake Tahoe at the corner of Lake Tahoe Blvd./Lyons Avenue.

Everyone is invited as we give thanks to members and supporters for another successful year serving the community.

The local 1789 Carpenters had a booth at the Heavenly Village Halloween celebration and wanted to share photos of some of those who stopped by.

Heavenly Village held a free Halloween party with multiple stops for candy from businesses in the Village as well as community members like the carpenters who had a booth for the celebrants to come by for candy.

Make plans to stop by the event in 2023.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Heavenly Village has released its holiday schedule for the upcoming season, November 25 to December 31. The Gin Blossoms will highlight the New Year's Eve celebration on the outdoor stage, and the month will feature a community Christmas Tree lighting ceremony, Breakfast With Santa, a rail jam, characters on ice, photos with Santa and Mrs. Santa, paint and sip, and lots more.

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - Local businesses and agencies are invited to participate in Christmas Tree Lane, a fun way to benefit local causes in the community.

Christmas Tree Lane is being sponsored by the Tahoe Chamber from November 25-December 16, but before then they are looking for local businesses to join in the fun.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There were many events for South Lake Tahoe treat-or-treaters to enjoy this year in addition to traditional door-to-door candy seekers, from trunk-or-treating at two local churches, Kahle Community Center, Presbyterian Conference Center and the Heavenly Village. There was no shortage of fun and candy!

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It wasn't your typical ask for food to fill backpacks with weekend food for South Lake Tahoe children. Bread & Broth 4 Kids (BB4K) held a Cram-A-Hearse event in front of the Grocery Outlet just before Halloween. They typically stuff a police cruiser with food, but because a local volunteer owns a hearse and it was almost Halloween - why not change the vehicle?

It was so fun and every child that came by received an ice cream, a bag of candy, and a stuffed animal, all from Peter Spellman, the owner of the hearse.

November is National Runaway and Homeless Youth Prevention Month. Between 1.6 and 2.8 million youth run away annually, and approximately 4.2 million young adults experience some form of homelessness each year. If all of these young people lived in one city, it would be the fifth largest city in the United States.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Bread and Broth (B&B) is gearing up for its big Thanksgiving dinner to be held on Monday, November 21 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Grace Hall in South Lake Tahoe.

The South Lake Tahoe community blood drive will be held on Friday, December 2 from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Parks & Recreation Gym, located at 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd.

Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins will be accommodated if space allows.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The public is invited to a Veterans Day ceremony at the American Legion Hall on Friday, November 11 at 11 a.m.

American Legion Post 795 has extended the invitation on behalf of their group, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion.

“We encourage community members to join us for this important day,” said American Legion Post 795 Commander, Tom Millham. “Veterans Day is an opportunity to recognize and honor all veterans who served and those who continue to serve at home and abroad in order to preserve the freedom we enjoy.“

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Tahoe Arts Project held another successful Dancing With The Tahoe Stars (DWTTS) on October 15 at Bally's Tahoe. Local celebrities were paired with professional dancers who vied for the coveted Mirror Ball trophy. Dancers from The Studio and South Tahoe High Dance Team also performed.

This year's performance has two Masters of Ceremonies - Bridey Heidel and Sebastiani Romagnolo. In true MC fashion, they went through several costume changes while entertaining the sold out crowd.

If you live in the South Lake Tahoe area and would you like to help shape the future of animal welfare in the South Lake Tahoe region for years to come, consider joining the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (HSTT)'s Board of Directors.

HSTT is currently seeking diverse and qualified individuals who can help build community relationships and assist with fundraising in South Lake Tahoe. Additionally, the Board of Directors provide financial and operational oversite, participate in strategic planning, influence and develop policy, and "have a lot of fun."

The 2nd annual Lucky Beaver Bar & Burger Crowns Golf Tournament held in September raised $50,000 for the Ronald McDonald House. The sold-out event was hosted by both Lucky Beaver Reno and Lucky Beaver Tahoe locations and it took place at the Lakeridge Golf Course. This was not an ordinary golf tournament. Golf ball cannons, water cannons, and a chance to win a $250k Malibu boat from West Coast Boat Center, as well as $10,000 in cash made the day super exciting according to multiple teams who participated.

South Lake Tahoe City Manager Joe Irvin recently installed the 2022-2023 officers of the Kiwanis Aktion Club of Lake Tahoe, the only community service group open to all adults living with disabilities.

More than anything, people living with disabilities want to be treated like everyone else. They want to show they have value and to give back to the community through service. Aktion Club empowers members to be themselves, work together with friends and implement plans through action.

The Lake Tahoe Lakers will be back in action this Friday night as they take on the Fresno Monsters on "First Responders Night" at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena.

Head on down, take in the action, and help them honor those who work tirelessly to keep the community safe.

All first responders are invited to go enjoy a complimentary pass to the October 21 game as their way to say "Thank You."

The action starts at 7:30 p.m.

The South Tahoe High Climate Crew Club and Key Club asked questions of this year's candidates for South Lake Tahoe city council. Not all candidates replied and there are no responses from Brad Jacobson, Tamara Wallace or Sherry Eddy.

Due to the length of the questions and answers (there are seven of them) they will be split up over the next few days.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Local artist Annie Walker is using her unique and colorful style technique to create "Sierra Juniper" on the back wall of Blue Dog Pizza at Midtown in South Lake Tahoe.

Blue Dog Pizza at Midtown is located at the intersection of Sierra Blvd., and Lake Tahoe Blvd. The art represents the feelings of rebirth, new beginnings, and second chances that many felt following the Caldor Fire.
