Join the UCCE Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe this May for free family friendly, hands-on workshops to learn how food can be grown at the Lake. They will be hosting Growing Food in Lake Tahoe Workshop Series around the lake.

Participants receive instruction on cultivation technique and background on the plants being highlighted. Everyone will leave with free plants for their garden.

Yes! The one vegetable (actually a fruit) that everyone wants to grow, but is that problem child here in Tahoe. Learn the techniques required to grow these plants in our cool summers. Topics include proper varietal selection, location in the garden or container, planting options and methods for protecting the young plants and fruit. Lake Tahoe Unified School District is holding a series of workshops for parents in the community where they can find support both personally and academically.

On Wednesday, March 9 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., all parents are invited to attend the "Helping Parent s ADVANCE Workshop" in the South Tahoe High Student Union.

As the parents participate, there will be free childcare and free K-8 tutoring available, as well as free food, prizes and more.

In partnership with local legal experts, Satin Legal Inc., Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe (BGCLT) will be hosting a Guardian Nomination Workshop for all families in the South Lake Tahoe community on Tuesday, January 31 at 5:00 p.m. This event is open to the public and will help with the process of nomination a guardian for minor children.

Meet at the club's meeting room at 1100 Lyons Avenue in South Lake Tahoe, BGCLT will be open until 6:30 p.m. that evening to allow parents to participate in the workshop.

Valhalla Tahoe is looking for three artists to participate in this summer's Artists-in-Residence program in South Lake Tahoe in July and August.

As part of the Valhalla Art, Music & Theatre Festival, an annual summer arts festival at the historic Heller (Valhalla) Estate, the artists are highlighted in the Viking Gallery.

Valhalla Tahoe invites artists to submit a proposal for consideration for the 2017 season.

The City of South Lake Tahoe promised to hire a company to provide a socio-economic study on the impacts of vacation home rentals (VHRs) on the city. Michael Baker Incorporated, a company that has studied the same impacts at Big Bear Lake, Morro Bay, Monterey and Avalon on Catalina Island, was hired to do the job.

Wednesday night, representatives from Michael Baker had stations around a room at the Senior Center to determine what the almost 100 people who were at the meeting thought was important, and not important, of several aspects of both the study and VHRs.

As planned, the City of South Lake Tahoe is now conducting a study of the socioeconomic impacts of vacation home rentals (VHRs) on the region. Their "Vacation Home Rental Analysis" is being led by a team of consultants from the firm, Michael Baker International.

Part of their study includes both stakeholders meetings and meetings with the community, both of which begin later this month.

Millions of visitors and most residents interact with Lake Tahoe from the shoreline, and a plan is currently being created to protect it while also enhancing recreational access to the lake.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) is inviting people to attend an upcoming community workshop on Thursday, November 3 to share input and ideas and help guide the creation of a Shoreline Plan. The workshop is open to the public and will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the TRPA offices in Stateline at 128 Market Street.

The Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of South Lake Tahoe, is offering a workshop entitled 60 Minute Strategic Plan: Learn How to Solve Your Strategic Issues Quickly and Make Better Decisions Faster on October 26, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – As part of ongoing efforts to evaluate and use numerous tools to fight aquatic invasive plants in the Tahoe Keys, the Tahoe Keys Property Owners Association recently announced its plans to apply for a permit for a small-scale demonstration of aquatic herbicides in 2018.

The second annual WordWave Festival will take place October 21-23, 2016, on the shore of South Lake Tahoe at the Tallac Historic Site. Some of the most creative and inspiring writers, musicians, and performers from around the country will be on the South Shore to share their talents at this three-day event. The festival will be interactive, featuring readings, workshops, panels, plays, open mics, guided hikes, and oral storytelling.

The Tahoe Chamber will be hosting a workshop on conflict on August 18 at the Tahoe Mountain Lab from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 pm.

There is a balancing act needed to provide quality transportation, protect Lake Tahoe, keep clean air and meet the needs of the communities around the lake, but that is what Tahoe Transportation District is trying to accomplish with a series of pubic outreach efforts.

On Tuesday night in South Lake Tahoe, staff from the TTD, Tahoe Metropolitan Planning Organization (TMPO) and Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) held an open house at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel to get a pulse on the feelings of the public about transportation.

A free summit in South Lake Tahoe this weekend will bring biking enthusiasts together under one roof for seminars, movies, food and drink. There will also be rides and the showcasing of local trail renaissance during the event which begins on Friday, May 6 and ends with a breakfast and Mother's Day family ride.

The public is invited to attend any, or all, parts of the inaugural Tahoe Trails Summit "Trails of Tahoe Today and Tomorrow" which will be held at the Tahoe Beach Retreat.

Tahoe Chamber’s “Level Up” workshop series brings the latest business resources and hot topics to the South Shore business community. The chamber works directly with expert facilitators to host a variety of topics including, customer service training, marketing, social media, human resources and more. Each “Level Up” workshop is designed so participants will be able to solve actual work related issues or gain hands-on experience to further their expertise.

With recreation a major focus of the community, both of locals and visitors, the City of South Lake Tahoe has identified the need to renovate the current recreation center.

On Thursday, March 31, the second community workshop on ideas for the Recreation Swim Complex will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the complex, located at 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd.
