In August 2022, DEA and its law enforcement partners seized brightly-colored fentanyl and fentanyl pills in 18 states. Dubbed “rainbow fentanyl,” this trend appears to be a new method used by drug cartels to sell highly addictive and potentially deadly fentanyl made to look like candy to children and young people.

National 988 suicide and crisis lifeline starts Saturday

When everyone with phones in area codes with a 988 prefix had to start using a full area code when dialing locally, the reason was to prepare for a National Suicide and Crisis Network.
988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route all callers in the United States to a national hotline, something mental health professionals hope will reduce barriers and encourage people to seek help.

Barton Health's statement on rising COVID-19 cases in South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Thu, 05/26/2022 - 5:17pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Positive cases of COVID-19 are on the rise in South Lake Tahoe, with 23.4 cases per 100,000 over the last seven days. At this time, the majority of positive cases are among people able to recover at home, and hospitalization admissions are currently stable.
As of Thursday, there were six hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in El Dorado County, one at Barton.
On May 18, when we last carried a story on the increase of cases, there had been 6556 cases of COVID-19 to date in South Lake Tahoe. That number has now grown to 6671, an increase of 115 cases in 7 days.

Psychosis describes a condition that affects the mind, where there has been some loss of contact with reality. During a period of psychosis, a person’s thoughts and perceptions are disordered and the individual may have difficulty distinguishing what is real from what is not.
Psychosis can happen to anyone, though symptoms most often begin between ages 16 and 30. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), there are about 100,000 new cases of psychosis each year in the U.S.
Barton Health Foundation - Heart Safe Community CPR Training

and administrators at South Lake Tahoe Middle School received training on the usage of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and learned how to administer CPR.
The Barton Health Foundation donated an AED to the school earlier this year. In the event of a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), quick access to an AED significantly increases survival rates.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The big day has been set by South Tahoe Refuse and Clean Tahoe: The annual return of $5 Dump Day! It's the one day a year the community can get rid of all the unwanted, unused stuff in the garage, the house, and the backyard, for just $5 a load.
On June 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., California residents can bring in a carload to South Tahoe Refuse. The cost is $10 for Nevada residents.

Like other animals, humans are not symmetrical beings. Our organs and respiratory diaphragm are different right to left. Because of this, we become unwound in classic human patterns. Aside from affecting muscle control, strength and performance, this patterning is often the origin of pain and dysfunction.
