Event Date:
January 28, 2015 - 6:00pm
Speakers from Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) and from other colleges and universities will be sharing their knowledge and experiences with students and the community during their upcoming Speaker Spotlight Series.
On January 28, LTCC will feature one of their own, Bruce Armbrust, a Mathematics and Physics instructor at the college. Armbrust will present “Worlds Beyond Our Own,” a look at the history and science behind the search for other planets in our universe.
“For millennia, humanity has looked into the night sky with awe and wondered what was out there. That curiosity continues today as we scour the universe looking for planets orbiting other stars,” says Armbrust. His lecture will detail the history of the search for planets that lie beyond our solar system, as well as the science behind the techniques used to find them.
A donation to the Lake Tahoe Community College Foundation by Bob and Cathy Cliff had enabled them to offer the speaker series.
The community is welcome to this free event, and light refreshments will be served. It starts at 6 p.m. in the college’s Board/Aspen Room.
