Auditions for hit musical Pippin being held at LTCC

Event Date:
February 17, 2015 - 7:00pm

Actors, singers and dancers of all ages are needed for the Lake Tahoe Community College production of the award winning musical Pippin. Gymnasts, jugglers, acrobats, aerialists are also being sought.

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, February 17 at the college's Duke Theater. Actors are required to sing selections from Pippin for the audition. Audition material and information can be found at http://www.singingvoice.net/williams/pippin, as well as on the Theatre Department webpage and Facebook page (LTCCTheatreArts).

While on Broadway, Pippin won five Tony Awards and had almost 2,000 shows. The play's music and lyrics are by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) and based on the book by Roger O. Hirson. The college's production will be directed by Susan Boulanger, musical direction by Mark D. Williams, and choreography by Angela Smith.

This high-energy, award-winning musical follows the story of Pippin, a young prince who longs to find passion and adventure in his quest to live an extraordinary life. His journey is encouraged by the seductive, yet sinister Leading Player, a Mephistophelean figure who, along with a troupe of Players, lures the naïve prince into a variety of “extraordinary” experiences, to the final “One Perfect Act.” Full of soaring songs from the composer of Wicked and Godspell, this unforgettable show is the winner of four Tony Awards in 1973 for the original production, and four Tony Awards in 2013 for the Broadway revival, including Best Musical Revival. Variety called the show “Pure theatrical bliss!”

Auditions will be Tuesday, February 17 at 7 p.m. in LTCC’s Duke Theatre. Callbacks will be Saturday, February 21 at 12 p.m. Rehearsals for LTCC’s production of Pippin will be Monday through Thursday evenings beginning April 6. Performances are June 12-21.
