The celebration will take place at the Lake Tahoe Golf Course, located at 2500 Emerald Bay Road in South Lake Tahoe, CA.

Many people in South Lake Tahoe know Joanne Shope through her tireless work as the volunteer who runs Christmas Cheer All Year – Tahoe’s food pantry which provides monthly staple and perishable food to low income families referred by local social service agencies, in addition to clothing, shoes, toys, and household items. Approximately 1,000 local residents are served on a monthly basis and Joanne Shope has been the backbone of this operation since 1995.

The organization is supported by private donations and community fund raisers and presents a community-wide distribution of Christmas dinner baskets for approximately 1,200 families and toys for 800 children at Christmas.

Joanne also well known by many people in the other service organizations with which she is involved – Soroptimists, American Legion, South Lake Tahoe Cancer League, and Women of the Moose.

A group of ardent admirers of her volunteerism and stamina, including Wendy David, Karen Houser, Tom Davis, Monique McIntyre, Mary Luckel, Kathy Sharp and Barry Keil are organizing a fun event to celebrate and honor her amazing contributions to the citizens of South Lake Tahoe. The community is invited to join in the celebration too!!
