New South Lake Tahoe community engagement website

Have you ever wanted to share your opinion, comments, ideas and other thoughts with the City of South Lake Tahoe? Everyone is now able to speak up on a website with just that name: Speak Up SLT.

Communication is now easier, both for giving and receiving feedback on this forum. SpeakUp SLT will combine the power of social innovation and crowdsourcing with an online forum to prioritize projects and make the best decisions for our community. Citizens can vote on, comment on, and share other citizens’ ideas, as well as their own

“This expands the City’s efforts to encourage community engagement and public involvement in local government, initiatives, ideas and decisions,” said City Manager Nancy Kerry.

The site has just been released and has several options not yet activated. There will be surveys, open discussions and forums.

As of Monday, there has already been action on the website. The question was posed: "What's your idea for an event center?" This is the opportunity for people to give their ideas and opinions in a setting that can actually bring results.

“I am excited that the City has launched SpeakUpSLT. This convenient online portal is an additional way for the citizens in our community to get more involved and have their voices be heard by sharing ideas, voting on surveys, participating in discussions and weighing in on City priorities,” said City Clerk Susan Alessi.

While residents may be using other online platforms; SpeakUp SLT is another online venue to encourage citizen participation. In addition to posting and liking ideas, users will notice a Discussion section and a Forum section on the website where topics and ideas can be posted for community feedback. Stay tuned for topics such as Fix-Up 50, Vacation Home Rental Ordinance changes, Single Room Occupancy Ordinance, and the 50th Anniversary.
