Driver identified in Highway 50 fatal accident

The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) has released the name of the driver who died on Wednesday after she drove her car off the road near Glenbrook, NV.

75-year old Darlene Hall of Skyforest, CA (near Lake Arrowhead) was driving her 2009 GMC Yukon northeast on Highway 50 between Cave Rock and Glenbrook when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the paved shoulder and went down a dirt slope. The car then struck several large rocks/boulders head on. The vehicle came to rest upright on its wheels.

When NHP Troopers arrived on scene they found Mrs. Hall deceased in the vehicle. One of Hall's two dogs, who were in the vehicle with her, had died at the scene as a result of the collision and the other dog was taken to a local veterinarian with serious injuries.

Alcohol or drugs are not suspected as a factor in the cause of the incident. Lanes of Highway 50 were shut down for a short period of time until the Nevada Department of Transportation arrived on scene to conduct traffic control while the crash scene was diagrammed and investigated, then traffic was allowed to move by the scene. This area of the road is two lanes in each direction and the speed limit is 45 mph.

Trooper Chris Austin of the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Carson City sub-station is investigating this incident.
