Tahoe Mountain Lab to add working spaces on the slopes at Heavenly

Ever find yourself spending a day on the slopes when you wish you could get a quick work task completed, then get back to skiing or boarding? That wish will be a reality this winter as Tahoe Mountain Lab and Vail Resorts have developed a first of its kind coworking space at Heavenly Mountain's Lakeview Lodge.
Starting in December, the on-mountain solution will open for people that need to hammer out a few hours of work but would still like to enjoy a day on the slopes.
The ski-in, ski-out location in Lakeview Lodge will be located at the top of the California Tram and will feature 16 desks in approximately 800 square feet of open space. The Mountain Lab at Lakeview Lodge will provide locker space for stashing laptops and ample internet bandwidth.
"I was snowboarding at Heavenly last year, when you know what hit the proverbial fan. I was on the phone trying my best to put out fires, but it was difficult,” said David Orr, Co-Founder, Tahoe Mountain Lab. “Reception was spotty on the mountain, and finding a quiet place to talk was nearly impossible. I thought to myself, if only Heavenly had a place like Mountain Lab to get an hour or two of work done. Little did I know, some of the folks running Heavenly had the exact same idea. Tahoe Mountain Lab jumped at the opportunity to bring coworking spaces to the slopes and work with such a prestigious brand as Vail.”
Coworking was born out of the idea of shared office space which, when shared, becomes more cost-effective and resource-protective for the whole. Unlike executive offices, or business centers, coworking spaces take advantage of open office concepts that encourage accelerated collaboration among peers.
“The Tahoe Mountain Lab at Heavenly’s Lakeview Lodge is at the forefront of bringing the ski and tech industries together in an unparalleled mountain experience,” said Pete Sonntag, vice president and chief operating officer of Heavenly Mountain Resort. “Teaming up with the Tahoe Mountain Lab, we are creating a workspace for professionals who are looking to create a “work hard, play hard” environment that combines skiing and riding with work obligations.”
Users of the new coworking space will be required to purchase both a lift ticket and a Mountain Lab pass. Space can be reserved online at Lakeview Mountain Lab. Startup companies interested in reserving the space for employee retreats, are encouraged to book early and inquire about special rates.
Tahoe Mountain Lab opened in South Lake Tahoe in 2014 with the area's first co-working space on Ski Run Blvd. They soon outgrew their home and purchased an old building on Harrison Avenue and renovated it to meet their growing needs. The space at Heavenly Resort will be their first satellite location. For more information on the company, visit tahoemountainlab.com.
