Lake Tahoe area roadwork November 4-10

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has a series of both short-term and long-term road projects at Lake Tahoe and neighboring areas.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work is in winter suspension on a $57 million project from the “Y” intersection at State Route 89 to the Trout Creek Bridge in South Lake Tahoe. This project is building new drainage systems to collect and treat stormwater runoff, rebuilding curbs, gutters and sidewalks, widening the highway to allow for bike lanes and resurfacing the roadway. Completion is expected in fall 2019.

State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $35 million project in Tahoe City to build a new Truckee River bridge east of the Caltrans Maintenance Yard with roundabouts on either end of the realignment, replace the existing Truckee River (Fanny) Bridge, construct a roundabout at the “Wye” intersection and make complete street enhancements to the portion of State Route 89/West Lake Boulevard. Completion is expected in 2019. For more information, visit: www.fannybridge.org November 4-9 - State Route 89 (Placer County) from Twin Crags Drive to Granlibakken Road: Motorists can expect intermittent one-way traffic control at various locations from 10 p.m. Sunday to noon Monday and 5 p.m. to noon Monday through Friday for utility work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $3.6 million multi-use path project that will connect the existing path that ends at Sugar Pine Point State Park to Meeks Bay Resort. Completion is expected this winter. No traffic-interfering work is scheduled on the highway.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $7.1 million project to resurface more than 10 miles of Highway 50 from the Sawmill Undercrossing in Cedar Grove to the South Fork American River Bridge at Riverton in El Dorado County, due to funds from Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. November 4-9 - U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Cedar Grove to Riverton: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures at various locations from 7 a.m.to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday for delineator installation work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

State Route 28 (Placer County) from Onyx Street to Speed Boat Avenue: Motorists can expect intermittent highway closures at various locations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday for compliance testing work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) at China Hill Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for drainage work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from the Amador County line to Union Mine Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday for tree trimming work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Cambridge Road: Westbound motorists can expect the off-ramp closed from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday for striping work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Schnell School Road in Placerville: Eastbound motorists can expect the off-ramp closed from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday for striping work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Forest Road to the PG&E Canal in Fresh Pond: Westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday for survey work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Alder Creek Road to Wildwood Way in Silver Fork: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for dead tree removal work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Audrain Way: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday for paving work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Rubicon Trail/Carson Avenue to Modesto Avenue in South Lake Tahoe: Eastbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday for paving work.

State Route 89 (Placer County) from Squaw Creek to Goose Meadows Campground: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday for drainage work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Eagle Point Campground to Bayview Campground/Vista Point: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for vegetation spraying work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) from Bear Creek Road to Black Oak Mine Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.

The Caltrans District Traffic Management Branch has reviewed each project and determined that individual project delays are expected to be less than the statewide policy maximum of 30 minutes, unless noted otherwise above. Lanes are numbered from the center divide (#1) to the shoulder (#2, 3, 4, etc.).
