SACRAMENTO, Calif. - For the second consecutive year, the Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) women's soccer team is headed to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Tournament.
The Lady Coyotes beat Sierra College Monday afternoon by a score of 2-0 in the third round of the NorCal Regional Playoffs at Consumnes College in Sacramento. The game was originally scheduled on the LTCC field in South Lake Tahoe but snow moved it to the valley.
LTCC spent several weeks on top of the national polls for Divison III community colleges and haven't allowed a goal during the playoffs and only nine during the whole season.
The LTCC women (21-0-2) will make their CCCAA Final Four appearance at De Anza College in Cupertino for a state semi-final match this Friday against San Diego Mesa College (SoCal seed No. 5 with a 21-1-1 record) at 10:00 a.m. The winner of that game goes to the state final on Sunday, December 8.
This is just the sixth season for the LTCC soccer program and LTCC is the first Golden Valley Conference program/college to ever make back-to-back Final Four appearances.
In 2018 the Coyotes made it to the state championship round, losing a tough one against Santiago Canyon, 1-0. They finished that season at 20-1-4.
During State, there is a Sophomore Showcase recruiting event that features both men and women players. LTCC will represent on both sides Saturday.
