Lodi woman identified in Zephyr Cove fatal crash
Submitted by Editor on Mon, 06/10/2013 - 10:51amThe Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a Lodi, Calif., woman as the victim of a two-vehicle fatal crash that happened Sunday on Highway 50 near Zephyr Cove at Lake Tahoe.
Reyna Vizcaara, 24, died at the scene of the crash, reported at 2:55 p.m., said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen. Four others were injured and taken to area hospitals, including three Carson City residents. Two remain hospitalized.

August 9, 2013 - 6:00pm A little over 22 years ago the small community of South Lake Tahoe was rocked with a tragedy that touched the hearts of most residents.
With a sense of disbelief, schools announced that Rory Hrbacek, Sandy Haynes, and Casey Wells had died in an accident on Pioneer Trail that also affected two other home-town boys, the driver and his front seat passenger.
It was difficult to find a person in our town who did not know either the boys or their parents. It was the greatest single instance of grief this town could remember.
Pilot, two passengers escape injury after plane crashes near Spooner; FAA team arrives at crash site
Submitted by Editor on Wed, 05/15/2013 - 4:36pmA pilot and two passengers escaped injury Wednesday after a plane crash northeast of Spooner in the Kings Canyon area, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong confirmed.
The passengers of the aircraft were taken by Carson City Fire and Rescue to the staging area at the Kings Canyon Trailhead where they signed statements with the Carson City Sheriff's Office. Both declined comment. An official at the scene said the three had taken a flight to celebrate the birthday of a 23-year-old female passenger and that both passengers were shaken and didn't wish to speak. It is believed but not confirmed the flight originated from Lake Tahoe.

One of the people to be honored this week at the annual South Lake Tahoe police awards ceremony is the man who was instrumental in helping save the life of Adam Rose and apprehend Christine Whalen.
Rose continues to struggle to heal from the devastating August 2012 accident in which he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike.

Todd Jackson, 28, suffered moderate injuries in the 8:50 a.m. accident after being extricated from the 2002 Dodge Durango by the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department. He was taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno. Jackson's two sons, 11 and 8-years-old, were taken to Barton Memorial Hospital where they were treated and released for minor injuries.

Gardnerville boy, 4, dies in vehicle U-Haul accident
Submitted by Editor on Mon, 02/25/2013 - 9:23amA 4-year-old Gardnerville boy, Mason Geist, died in an accident Sunday in the 900 block of Cavelti Road in the Spring Valley area south of Gardnerville, the Douglas County Sheriff Office reports.
Deputies responded at 3:45 p.m., to 980 Cavelti Road in the Spring Valley area on the report of a vehicle accident involving the injury of a 4-year-old boy, said Douglas County Undersheriff Paul Howell.
The injured child was transported to the Carson Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, Howell said in a news release.
South Lake Tahoe man arrested in DUI hit and run after allegedly plowing into parked vehicles while texting

It is believed the man was text messaging at the time of the crash.
Christopher Catterson, 27, of South Lake Tahoe was arrested after running from the scene of the accident, said South Lake Tahoe Police Sgt. Shannon Laney.

Jorgenson, 46, was reported as the lone pilot of the plane when it left the Minden Airport on Wednesday evening.

Reno woman identified in Mount Rose Highway fatal crash
Submitted by Editor on Mon, 12/24/2012 - 9:39amA 50-year-old Reno woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal accident Friday on State Route 431, Mount Rose Highway, east of Joy Lake Road in Washoe County, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
Tracy L. Scott died after the 2001 GMC Yukon XL she was driving was struck by a Dodge pickup towing a two-axle utility trailer driven by a 36-year-old Reno man. Scott was traveling westbound on the two-lane highway at the time of the crash.
Woman dies, two injured in Mount Rose Highway accident

The accident happened shortly before 2 p.m. and closed the highway for more than an hour. The woman's name has not been released pending notification of family members.
South Lake Tahoe man dies in vehicle accident at Ski Run and Pioneer Trail

William Olazaba of South Lake Tahoe, a passenger in a white Honda Accord driven by Roberto Olazaba, 22, died at Barton Memorial Hospital. According to South Lake Tahoe police, the Honda broadsided a GMC Yukon driven by Noe Corea, 26, of South Lake Tahoe.
The accident was reported at around 1:35 a.m. and alcohol is suspected as being a contributing factor, according to South Lake Tahoe police. The vehicles struck a power utility box and knocked out power to the Ski Run area, police said.

Accident on State Route 28 near Spooner Lake shuts down both lanes

Tahoe Douglas EMTs and the Nevada Highway Patrol report the accident involved a single car that hit a boulder and spun out, winding up on its roof. The single occupant was reportedly out of the vehicle and appears to be OK. The car is blocking both lanes. The accident was reported at 3:42 p.m.

Woman dies in Douglas County accident near valley side of Kingsbury Grade intersection

Lynette Lucille Cieri, 63, died of injuries sustained in the accident. She was not wearing a seat belt.
The accident was reported at 5:20 p.m. at State Route 207 and Mottsville Lane. The preliminary investigation indicates a 1995 light green Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling westbound on Mottsville Lane. For an unknown reason, the Jeep entered the north dirt shoulder of Mottsville Lane before re-entering the westbound lane.

The accident happened in the eastbound lane and was reported at 5:22 p.m. Motorists can expect delays. Pedestrian doing OK after Sunday hit and run accident in Stateline

Authorities are looking for the driver of the SUV that hit him and left the scene, which happened across from MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa.
The injured California man was flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno where his injuries are considered non-life threatening, said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Barbara Stapleton.
El Dorado County authorities make arrest in attempted murder, kidnapping case

Dustin James Woodruff, born July 29, 1985, is suspected of shooting and beating Bryan Santana, 35, of Placerville on July 2, 2012, said El Dorado County Lt. Tim Becker in a news release.

Woman hit by SUV on Highway 50 near Heavenly Village in South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by Editor on Sat, 09/15/2012 - 11:05pmA woman was hit by a SUV near the crosswalk across from McP's Pub on Highway 50 near Heavenly Village in South Lake Tahoe late Saturday night. A CareFlight air ambulance was called and the woman was to be taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno.
At the time paramedics arrived to the accident the woman was breathing but unresponsive, unconscious, with blood coming from her neck and head area. The accident was reported at 11:45 p.m.
