For many positions the deadline was Friday, August 7, but if an incumbent chose not to run, that date was moved to August 12.

Nine South Lake Tahoe residents have qualified to run in November and thrown in their hats for three open seats on City Council.
The three incumbents, Mayor Wendy David, Mayor Pro Tem Tom Davis and Councilman Austin Sass will all be running for reelection. They will be joined by some veterans of local politics as well as newcomers.

The positions all have residential requirements with both LTCC and LTUSD have further area boundaries.

Three seats open for South Tahoe Public Utility District Board
Submitted by paula on Mon, 07/09/2018 - 12:09pmBesides openings on the Lake Tahoe Unified School District, Lake Tahoe Community College Board, South Lake Tahoe City Council, Tahoe Paradise Park Board, El Dorado County Board of Supervisors this November, there will also be three openings on the South Tahoe Public Utility District (STPUD) five-member board.
From July 16 to August 10, those interested in being on the STPUD board must file for candidacy. That deadline is extended to August 15 if an incumbent fails to file for their term prior by the earlier deadline. The incumbent is not allowed to file after August 10.

The Tahoe Art League will be presenting two South Lake Tahoe artists and one local art car owner and their Burning Man art at their next business meeting to be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

I voted YES to the measure because there is no long term funding solution within the current budget or the foreseeable future. And, our roads are in terrible shape.

LTCC hires Russi Egan as new VP of Administrative Services

Egan is currently the Vice President of Administrative Services and Chief Financial Officer at Palo Verde College in Blythe, Calif. She will begin her new job at LTCC on July 1.
The position has been vacant since Jeff DeFranco became the school's new Superintendent/President in January, 2017.

Cowen, and his professional partner Rhonda Keen performed a Bollywood number that brought down the house.
LTCC passes resolution supporting diversity, undocumented students

This resolution follows the release of a Statement on Diversity from LTCC’s new Superintendent/President, Jeff DeFranco, published in the wake of White House changes to immigration policy.

Longtime LTCC Trustee Dr. Wenck retires after 42 years on board

Richard Nixon resigned as president, Patty Hearst was kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army, All in the Family and Sanford and Son were number one and two on the top TV show list, gas was 38 cents a gallon and Dr. Frederick “Fritz” Wenck became an elected Board of Trustees member for Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC).
Fast forward to 2016 and Dr. Wenck retired from the board.
LTCC President Murillo not given Contra Costa job; Last day in Tahoe in February

'I was honored to be a finalist, and I wish Dr. Fred Wood the very best," Murillo told South Tahoe Now.

There were a total of 78 vehicles and approximately 200 people on foot either walking, biking, or dancing. American Legion Post 795 served as the parade marshals.

Murillo, who started at the college in July, 2011, requested the Board meet and discuss an exit date for her which would take place sometime in the next 18 months.
During the January 19 meeting, the Board will also discuss a timeline for the process of finding Murillo's replacement.

As directed by the TahoeChamber Board of Directors, the TahoeChamber Candidate Endorsement Committee (TC-CEC) used the pillars of the Chamber’s adopted Tahoe Future A South Shore Community Vision 2020 as the foundational criteria for evaluating candidates. The pillars include Economic Vitality, Quality of Life, Sustainability, Infrastructure and Intellectual Capital.

Election picture clear with all candidates now known
Submitted by paula on Fri, 08/15/2014 - 7:28amWith the filing deadline now passed, the list of candidates for South Lake Tahoe City Council and City Clerk, South Tahoe Public Utility Board and the Lake Tahoe Community College Board of Trustees is now known. These positions, along with the El Dorado County Supervisor for Area 5 will all be voted by local voters on during the November 4.
One week left for LTCC candidates to file for November election
Submitted by paula on Thu, 07/31/2014 - 8:29pmThere are three seats up for grabs in the November election for the Lake Tahoe Community College Board of Trustees. Trustees from areas 1, 2 and 5 are up for re-election.
Area 1 is currently represented by Kerry David, who has announced his intention to seek re-election. Area 2 is currently represented by longtime Board member Roberta Mason, who is retiring from her seat after 40 years of service to the college. Area 5 is currently represented by Molly Blann, who announced in June that she is not seeking re-election.
