Deputies from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in Diamond Springs on Tuesday, May 31 at 10:00 a.m.

Upon arrival, they discovered that Luis Javier Calderon, 33, had taken a knife from the home's kitchen and went into a bedroom where a 14-year-old female relative was sleeping. Calderon held the knife to her neck and made her stand and remove all of her clothing, according to a EDSO press release.

A South Lake Tahoe man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a manhunt took authorities from Mendocino County to New Hampshire.

10:35 a.m. update: The "all clear" is about to be given at the El Dorado County Government Center. The bomb has been considered a hoax device meant to cause the major response by law enforcement that it did, according to SLTPD Chief Brian Uhler. Evidence is being gathered and roads will soon reopen.

At approximately 6:35 a.m. this morning, a groundskeeper working at the El Dorado County Courthouse located at 1354 Johnson Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe noticed a suspicious device in front of the courthouse.

Rafael Corea, a 61 year old former restaurant worker, has failed to register as a sex offender and the South Lake Tahoe Police Department would like to find him.

In 1995, Corea was convicted for lew and lascivious acts with a minor aged 14 or 15. As part of his conviction he much register as a sexual offender for the rest of his life, and he failed to do so in 2015 as required.

SLTPD detectives discovered Corea has moved out of his former residence in South Lake Tahoe and his current whereabouts are unknown, and they'd like the public's help in locating him.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is concerned about a growing trend with the use of social media by youth, and has shared a warning from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Human Trafficking Bureau on dangers of “sexting” and the potential of pedophiles coercing children into unsafe acts.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department has identified two more suspects in the January 30, 2016 murder of Dennis Wright, Jr. at the Beverly Lodge.

Dennis Wright, Jr of Amador County has been identified as the man who died after being shot Saturday night at the Beverly Lodge in South Lake Tahoe.

UPDATE 2:00 p.m. - Three young adults were taken into custody Monday morning in connection with the fatal shooting of a young man over a marijuana deal near a park in north Carson City, Sheriff Ken Furlong said.

The three — two men and a woman — were arrested without incident by Carson City SWAT at an apartment complex on Fifth Street near Harbin Street. The three came out following demands by SWAT to surrender after investigators learned they had been hiding inside a residence.

El Dorado County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a home invasion robbery on December 4 at 7:00 a.m. on Meadow Circle in Rescue. The woman who called in the report told the 911 operator that one person had been stabbed.

Once deputies arrived they found three occupants at the home, including one male who was bleeding. They were all escorted to a safe place where medics could evaluate them.

Tragedy at the Police Department. The department is deeply appreciative of the support given to the family of Mark Hounsell who was killed, along with his wife Jeanne and her friend Laura Fisher, in a motor vehicle accident. They are survived by 4 children who have been the recipients of beautiful and heartfelt support from the entire community. The fund for the Children is now approaching the goal of $130,000. Complaints about an offensive smell and unsightly tarps brought out El Dorado County Sheriff's detectives to a home in El Dorado Hills who ended up uncovering a large marijuana grow.

On October 23, 2015, a search warrant was served on a residence and property in the 1400 block of Malcom Dixon Road.

When they arrived they found 52-year-old Jeffrey Johansen, Sr. guarding a marijuana grow from a tree house, armed with a shotgun. He complied with law enforcement and put down the shotgun.

The FBI and Placer County Sheriff’s Office are seeking the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible for vandalizing churches in the North Lake Tahoe area.

Between April 4 and September 14, 2015, multiple churches were vandalized, including one in Kings Beach and one in Tahoe City. One religious statue and exterior walls were spray-painted with offensive statements. Detectives are working with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, which has also had several churches vandalized in the Incline Village area.

High schools in the Placerville area wore the colors of Union Mine High today as a sign of solidarity after two of the school's Junior Varsity football players suffered brain injuries during a football game on Friday.

The community has had an opportunity all summer to meet with the South Lake Tahoe Police Chief, Lieutenants and Sergeants this summer during their "Coffee With a Cop" series which is held ever Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Starbucks near Stateline.

These meetings give locals and visitors the chance to meet the officers and help shape our policing efforts in South Lake Tahoe. People are encouraged to stop by and share what’s going on in your neighborhood, what you are concerned about, and of course they’re happy to hear good news as well.

There have been a few people who have shown up each week because they knew the SLTPD would be there, others just stop by when they see them sitting at the table.

A woman was violently beat up early Thursday morning in South Lake Tahoe by an unknown man who is still on the loose.

At around 2:00 a.m., the suspect walked up to the area of a motel room on Cedar Avenue, where a group of several friends were socializing in and around the room. No one in this group of friends knew the suspect.

12:09 a.m. -Domestic Dispute - Glen Eagles Rd - A DATING COUPLE VISITING TAHOE GOT INTO A VERBAL ARGUMENT. DOCUMENTATION ONLY

1:05 a.m. - DUI Alcohol/Drugs - Brockway Ave - A VEHICLE AND ITS OCCUPANTS WERE DETAINED FOR DRIVING RECKLESS AND FAILING TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN. THE DRIVER

El Dorado County Sheriff's Office arrested three suspects for the murder of 55-year-old Pete Thomas.

On the evening of February 3, police found Thomas's body inside of a home in the 3200 block of Sand Ridge Road in unincorporated Placerville. Detectives and crime scene investigators examined the scene and circumstances of Thomas’ death and determined it was a homicide, said El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Lt. Tom Murdoch.

A father and son were arrested in South Lake Tahoe on Thursday evening for illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and drugs in the 800 block of Tallac Avenue.

South Lake Tahoe Police Department's SWAT team and SLEDNET detectives served a high-risk warrant on the residence that resulted in the arrest of 55-year old Richard Martin and his 23-year old son Joshua Martin.

Over the last three months, investigators had been examining several different cases that were all affiliated with the Tallac Avenue address where both Martins resided.

South Lake Tahoe Police officers responded to a call of an armed robbery at the Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) restaurant on Lake Tahoe Blvd in South Lake Tahoe Monday night.

At about 11:30 p.m., officers arrived in response to the armed robbery which had just occurred. When they arrived the suspect, described as 5'8" and 130 pounds, had already fled.

11:57 a.m. - Skyline Drive - GRAND THEFT. ITEMS REPORTED STOLEN OUT OF UNLOCKED VEHICLE.

12:09 p.m. - Memory Lane - GRAND THEFT. A 61 YEAR OLD MAN REPORTED A THEFT OF $995 IN CURRENCY VIA A TELEPHONE SCAM. A REPORT WAS GENERATED AND FORWARDED TO DETECTIVES AND THE SOUTH LAKE TAHOE POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR INFORMATION.

Since the April 29th robbery of Simpson's Jewelry store in South Lake Tahoe, the City's Police Department has had an on-going investigation into this crime.

Detectives discovered a stolen Ford truck had been used in the crime. The stolen Ford has since been recovered locally.

In partnership with Lake Tahoe Secret Witness, a $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects in this case.
