There will be a special art show at the Pacific Crest Gallery in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, May 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Students from South Tahoe High have been creating art for the Lake Tahoe Humane Society's Art for Animals program, one which inspires kindness to all animals.

The student art work will be up for sale, with proceeds going to the students and the Humane Society.

Refreshments will be served.

Pacific Crest Gallery is located in the Heavenly Village at 10001 Heavenly Village Way, Suite 29 across from the theater.

The community is invited to a special Good Friday performance of “The Living Last Words,” a dramatic musical experience commemorating the Seven Last Words of Christ, written by Ruth Elaine Schram, with music direction by Maureen Leonard, and stage direction by Susan Boulanger. This free performance will be presented on Friday, March 25 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1041 Lyons Avenue.

Bodies will be dropping like flies as mystery, chaos, and laughter prevail during The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, a Hollywood murder mystery being performed by by the Theatre Arts Department at Lake Tahoe Community College.

The play, written by John Bishop and directed by Susan Boulanger, will be at the school's Duke Theater March 11, 12, 17, 18, 19 at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees on March 13 and 20 at 2 p.m.

Tahoe Arts Project is offering two opportunities to enjoy the Tahoe Improv Players, once in a free daytime workshop, and the other later that evening at a special show.

South Tahoe High School is proud to announce they will be showing the new Warren Miller Movie, Chasing Shadows on January 29th at 7:30 p.m. in the High School Theater.

COST is $15.00 if the tickets are purchased at the school's ASB office. They are $16.50 if purchased through the school's online store at LTUSD.org.

By school day, he's the leader on the hill at South Tahoe High School, but by night, he's leading the field of American custom builders of monoskis.

"He" is Chad Houck, second year principal at STHS. Houck was recently featured in his second Warren Miller ski movie, this time in "Chasing Shadows." His first Miller highlight was in 2006 when his monoskiing was in "Off the Grid."

The community is invited to a free screening of the short documentary film, Ellis, on Monday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Lake Tahoe Community College's Duke Theater.

Following the 14-minute film, Dr. Albert Ponce, the LTCC History and Ethnic Studies assistant professor, will lead a discussion on the current immigration story and how it's changed.

One of the most important plays of the American theatre will receive a unique staging as the Theatre Arts Department at Lake Tahoe Community College presents Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller. Performances are November 13-22 in the Duke Theatre at LTCC, located at One College Drive off of Al Tahoe Blvd.

An evening with Citywater is the next event for the Valhalla Art, Music and Theater Festival in South Lake Tahoe.

Hailed by Edward Ortiz as "a top-flight interpreter of contemporary classical music," Citywater is Sacramento's own modern chamber ensemble. Comprising flutist Cathie Apple, clarinetist Milun Doskovic, percussionist Ben Prima, pianist Jennifer Reason, violinist Dagenais Smiley, and cellist Timothy Stanley; Citywater strives to charm and challenge its audiences with the newest music written.

The Lake Tahoe Historical Society is bringing historical characters back to life in their "Chautauqua at Lake Tahoe 2015" on September 20 at 5 p.m. in the Valhalla Grand Hall.

Rain or shine, the concert will go on. If it rains, all will be moved indoors to the Boathouse Theater. This will be the last in Valhalla's FREE Concert on the Lawn series which is part of the Valhalla Art, Music & Theatre Festival.

The band is a mix of jazz, French folk and country, with original music.

WordWave is a three-day festival held from Oct. 9-11, 2015 on the grounds of Valhalla at the Tallac Historic Site in South Lake Tahoe, CA. This literary mash-up will feature oral storytelling, theater performances and free readings, panels on craft, yoga, and a novel writing camp for kids. Highlights include a one-act playwriting contest, a Maker’s Station demo with bookbinding, letterpress, drum making, and found poetry and art. Ticketed events include a steampunk ball, workshops, and even a hike.

“The course of true love never did run smooth," wrote William Shakespeare in his most famous comedy, 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream.' Fans of the Bard are in for a treat as talented South Tahoe High students bring back their hit play to the Valhalla Boathouse Theater.

The play will be presented with a Tahoe Twist by Tahoe South's acclaimed young adult theatre and promises to keep you in stitches. Director Nannette Niven has a cast of 20 including Bjorn Hedqvist, Stephanie Hernandez, Zoe Greco, Tyler Martin, Steve Huerta, Zane Brady, Hunter Turney and Jered Stowell.

June Joplin, the beloved owner of Comma Coffee in Carson City is a talented jazz vocalist who is bringing her show, Me and Bobby McGee, to the Valhalla Art, Music and Theatre Festival in South Lake Tahoe on July 15.

The show will be in the historic 1920's boat house turned theater located at the Tallac Historic Site.

Tahoe Arts Project will be bringing the Missoula Children’s Theater back to Tahoe the week of July 6-10. Auditions will be held for the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) production of Aladdin on Monday July 6 at the South Tahoe Middle School Multi-Purpose room from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Those auditioning should arrive at 10:00 a.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.

Have you heard any good Middle Eastern Oud or Kemenche lately? How about South American Charango and Zamponia or East Indian Tablas or Santoor? Intrigued? The world’s most infamous betrayer gets his day in court at Lake Tahoe Community College this March. The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, a searingly funny, adult, and thought-provoking play by Stephen Adly Guirgis, will be presented in LTCC’s Duke Theatre March 13-22. Set in a time-bending, darkly comic world between Heaven and Hell, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot reexamines the plight and fate of perhaps the New Testament’s most misunderstood and unexplained sinner.
