Tahoe Douglas Rotary holds 49th annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration

The Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club is holding their 49th annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration at the Harrah's Lake Tahoe Convention Center from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17.

It started with a wine and cheese party on the second floor of Dart Liquor and it has morphed over the years into one of the top annual fundraisers on the South Shore.

600 people are expected at the evening full of food, fun, dancing and drinking, all in the name of community to raise funds for the Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club's scholarships and grant programs.

Suspect in murder of Mendocino commerical pot grower arrested in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIF. - A fugitive pot plant trimmer suspected in the robbery and brutal killing of an operator of a commercial marijuana farm in Mendocino County was arrested in South Lake Tahoe Friday afternoon.

El Dorado County teen arrested for murdering relative

What first appeared to be a case of a 16-year-old high school student bringing a loaded firearm onto campus Thursday quickly turned into a murder investigation.

At 8:00 a.m. January 19, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) was notified that a student at Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs had been detained for bringing a loaded firearm onto campus. Upon deputies arrival at the school, they placed the student under arrest for the possession of the firearm.

Man arrested in connection with death of El Dorado County infant

An investigation by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office into the death of a six-week-old infant has resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old man.

Michael Swope is behind bars at the jail in Placerville and being held on one million dollars bail after his arrest on Thursday, December 29 at 3:20 p.m. on second-degree murder and assault charges.

The infant’s mother has been cooperating with authorities throughout the investigation and is not considered a suspect.

No other details have been released.

Washoe County teen arrested for making numerous 911 calls

A 17-year-old boy was arrested by Washoe County Sheriff's deputies after the teen made over a dozen false reports to emergency dispatch.

Between November 12, 2016 and November 29, 2016, the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received calls from the Sun Valley area, including reports of mass murder, shoot-outs in the street, and a bomb threat to a local elementary school.

Suspect in South Lake Tahoe murder changes plea to guilty

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE - It was an emotional day in court Tuesday as one of the suspects in the January 30, 2016 murder of Dennis "Spike" Wright, Jr. withdrew his plea of not guilty and plead guilty to an amended criminal complaint that included four felonies surrounding Wright's murder and robbery.

Man wanted in Sacramento triple homicide may be in Reno area

Law enforcement officers in the Reno-Sparks area are looking for a man wanted in connection to a triple homicide in Sacramento on October 15.

Jerod Watson, 52, is a suspect in the murder of his ex-girlfriend's mother and two adult sons. All three had been stabbed multiple times.

Watson fled Sacramento in an SUV that was stopped in Reno, but he was not inside the vehicle.

There is an active arrest warrant for homicide for Watson who is believed to still be in the Reno-Sparks area. He is described as an African American male, 5'10", 180 pounds.

One stabbed, one arrested for attempted murder after fight in Gardnerville liquor store

MINDEN, NEVADA – Two men were involved in a fight at the Ranchos Liquor Store in Gardnerville Friday night, resulting in one transported by air ambulance to Reno, the other arrested and jailed on multiple charges.

At 5:44 p.m., deputies from Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded along with paramedics and found an unidentified 50-year-old man suffering from a knife wound to the chest. He was transported to Renown Medical Center.

Another arrest connected to South Lake Tahoe murder

The arrests continue around the country in response to the January, 2016 murder of 40-year-old Dennis Wright at the Beverly Lodge in South Lake Tahoe. In an apparent drug deal gone bad, Wright was shot to death in the motel's parking lot after allegedly bringing 100 pounds of marijuana to town to sell.

Inmate charged with murder found dead in El Dorado County jail cell

A man who had been in custody at the El Dorado County Jail in Placerville since November has died.

Correctional officers found Dennis Renk, 39, unresponsive in his cell at 12:24 a.m. Saturday, August 27.

Renk was immediately treated by the officers and jail medical staff, then transferred into the care of El Dorado County Fire Paramedics and transported to Marshall Hospital. He was pronounced deceased by hospital staff at 4:13 p.m.

He had been in custody since November 6, 2015, when he was arrested on charges of homicide after an altercation in Camino, Calif.

Body found in burned car in Washoe County, Sheriff's Office seeks public's help

Three people have been identified as "persons of interest" by the Washoe County Sheriff's Office in connection to an investigation of human remains found in a burnt vehicle off State Route 447 on Thursday night.

The men have been identified as Shannon Miller, Shawn Miller and Corey Massengale, all from the Silver Spring area of Lyon County.

The fifth suspect in the January 30, 2016 murder of an Amador County man at the Beverly Lodge in South Lake Tahoe has been arrested. 26-year-old Dion Jermaine Vacarro, a former resident of Solano County, Calif., was arrested in Oklahoma City on suspicion of the murder on Dennis Wright, Jr. after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

South Lake Tahoe murder suspect arrested in Texas

Domenic Seanlee Randolph, a suspect in the murder of Dennis Wright, Jr. at a South Lake Tahoe motel, was arrested Tuesday in Texas.

The 22-year-old-Randolph is the third suspect arrested for the January 30, 2016 shooting death of Wright, who allegedly brought 100 pounds of marijuana to the Beverly Lodge to sell. He was shot and killed in the motel's parking lot during an apparent robbery attempt.

Suspects in South Lake Tahoe murder plead not guilty

Two of the men suspected of killing 40-year-old Dennis Wright, Jr. in South Lake Tahoe appeared before Judge Suzanne Kingsbury in El Dorado County Superior Court on Monday.

Tristan Batten, 18, and Harvest Davidson, 20, both entered a not guilty plea.

Great news! Compared to last year, our violent crime rate is down 41% (from 112 occurrences in 2014 to 66 in 2015). The news is not all good. South Lake Tahoe investigation leads to Georgetown drug bust

An investigation into the sales of drugs surrounding the murder of Dennis Wright, Jr. in South Lake Tahoe last month led the El Dorado County Sheriff SWAT team to Georgetown, Calif., on February 2, 2016 where they arrested 33-year-old Teveraz Lopez on drug charges.

Two separate investigations are currently ongoing surrounding the death of Wright, both a homicide investigation and a narcotics investigation according to EDSO Lt. Jim Byers.

Man shot and killed at South Lake Tahoe motel

A man was shot and killed at the Beverly Lodge in South Lake Tahoe Saturday night. At about 7:42 p.m. on January 30, 2016, several people called 911 to report shots being fired at the motel which is located at 34780 Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

Officers from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department responded immediately as did an EMS unit from the fire department. Upon arrival they found a man who had been shot, lying on the ground outside one of the rooms at the motel. He was transported to Barton Hospital where he died within a few minutes of arrival.

El Dorado County man arrested after mother and brother found dead

A dispute over an inheritance is the apparent reason an El Dorado County man and his mother are dead, according to authorities.

Milo Lloyd Wallace, 49, was arrested at 1:40 a.m. Thursday, November 12 on suspicion of murder and assault with a deadly weapon. His mother, 71-year-old Sandra Wallace, and brother Matthew Wallace, 38, were found dead with gunshot wounds Wednesday evening at the home his mother owned in the Oak Hill area southeast of Placerville.

Investigators are making a new push to solve the murder of a Nevada teen found slain in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., in 1979, as a part of a video campaign highlighting cold cases.

Teenage son arrested in deaths of his family in El Dorado County

El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) arrested a 16-year-old boy on Thursday on charges he murdered his family in their Greenwood, CA cabin.

On September 13, Cal Fire asked for the assistance of EDSO after they found human remains inside a burnt residence.

Brynn Rainey was a Keno runner at the Sahara Tahoe in 1977 when her body was found on property near the old Stateline Stables where the Van Sickle Bi-State Park now resides. She lived at what was known as the Cookbook apartments, frequented the 7-11 store on Emerald Bay Road, took the bus to work and, on the last night she was seen alive, visited the Bitter Creek Saloon near the corner of Sandy Way and Takela Drive in South Lake Tahoe.

Remains of man missing since 2006 found in rural area of county

The remains of a homicide victim, killed more than nine years ago and unearthed last week in rural El Dorado County, have been identified.

The El Dorado County Cold Case Homicide Task Force announced Thursday that it located and identified the human remains of Tobias Kaiser who was last seen at his home in Somerset, CA on November 30, 2006.

Sparks stabbing victim was graduate of South Tahoe High

Mark Allen Smith, a 1982 graduate of South Tahoe High, was stabbed to death in Sparks, NV on March 9, 2015.

Sparks Police were called out to a home at 11 Vista de Lago at 3:00 a.m. on Monday morning. When they arrived they found Smith with a single stab wound to the chest. He was transported to Renown Medical Center where he died later that morning.

Three arrested in stabbing death of El Dorado County man

El Dorado County Sheriff's Office arrested three suspects for the murder of 55-year-old Pete Thomas.

On the evening of February 3, police found Thomas's body inside of a home in the 3200 block of Sand Ridge Road in unincorporated Placerville. Detectives and crime scene investigators examined the scene and circumstances of Thomas’ death and determined it was a homicide, said El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Lt. Tom Murdoch.

First degree murder charges filed in death of Douglas County infant

A 23-year old Carson Valley man is now facing first degree murder charges in the death of this two month old daughter Ava Getty.

The infant was brought into the Carson Valley Medical Center by her father, Trent Getty, on January 7 with serious injuries. According to Douglas County Sheriff's investigators, the infant died after suffering substantial injuries that were the result of traumatic abuse and inconsistent with the statement given by Getty regarding how the injury occurred.

Public's help sought in search for attempted murder suspect's knife

Law enforcement and police dogs have been searching an area near the Tahoe Keys for a knife used in last week's attempted murder of a South Lake Tahoe woman.

Thomas Payne is accused of cutting his wife's throat with a large knife on October 16. He took off after the incident and returned to the scene several hours later. The knife used in the attack has not been found.

Payne's wife was taken to the hospital with life threatening injures and he was arrested on October 17 for attempted murder.

South Lake Tahoe man arrested for attempted murder after allegedly stabbing woman

A South Lake Tahoe woman is recovering in the hospital after undergoing emergency surgery for a stab wound to the neck Wednesday night.

Thomas Payne, 36, also of South Lake Tahoe, was arrested Thursday afternoon for attempted murder after the victim identified him as the perpetrator of the domestic violence.
