SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There has been a lot of recent conversation about the stress COVID-19 patients have put on hospital systems across the country, including El Dorado County and South Lake Tahoe. Concern has been expressed about the occupancy rates at Barton Hospital and what its capacity is to handle the current surge of residents testing positive for the virus.

Douglas County has recently seen an alarming increase in COVID-19 cases in an extremely short period of time. This is part of a regional and statewide trend in rapidly increasing confirmed COVID-19 infections and they are experiencing strain to their healthcare system and first responders.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) will continue to serve as an appointment-only COVID-19 testing center through March 31, 2021. The college’s standalone Physical Education building is the only large-scale COVID-19 active virus testing site operating in El Dorado County.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 39 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 19 are in El Dorado Hills, nine in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, one in North County, two in Greater Placerville, one in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, two in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, four in Lake Tahoe region. There is one awaiting address confirmation.

One of those new cases, 20 are under the age of 18, none are aged 18-49, eight are aged 50-64, and 11 aged 65 or older.

Of those, 23 are in El Dorado Hills, seven in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, four in North County, four in Greater Placerville, two in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, three in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 27 in Lake Tahoe region. There are three awaiting address confirmation.

One of those new cases, ten are under the age of 18, 33 are aged 18-49, 24 are aged 50-64, and six aged 65 or older.

Governor Steve Sisolak announced a "at least a three-week statewide pause" to protect Nevadans from the pandemic due to a surge in positive cases and deaths. Starting Tuesday, November 24 at 12:01 a.m. there will be tighter business restrictions and a stricter mask mandate in the state of Nevada.

Many thought he would be calling for a shutdown in the state, but instead he chose the "pause" at this time. Sisolak said ten percent of all COVID-19 cases in Nevada since beginning of pandemic have been recorded in the last seven days.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 52 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 15 are in El Dorado Hills, five in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, four in North County, one in South County, eight in Greater Placerville, eight in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, and 11 in Lake Tahoe region.

One of those new cases, three are under the age of 18, 31 are aged 18-49, 15 are aged 50-64, and three aged 65 or older.

Another 374 people were tested for the coronavirus and 322 negative tests results were received.

Of those, eight are in El Dorado Hills, five in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, one in North County, -1 Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, one in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, eight in Greater Placerville Area, and 20 in the Lake Tahoe region.

One of those new cases, five are under the age of 18, 27 are aged 18-49, seven are aged 50-64, and three aged 65 or older.

There is a -1 case from Diamond Springs/El Dorado due to a misclassification of a previous case. Both areas with today's cases have seen an increase in visitors due to Apple Hill activities.

Another 89 people were tested for the coronavirus and 87 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 15 assumed recoveries with 133 assumed active cases.

There is currently one COVID-19 ICU patient at Marshall or Barton hospitals, and no suspected cases.

Of those, two are in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, one was removed from the El Dorado Hills count one in Greater Placerville, and five in the Lake Tahoe Region.

The new cases: 1 is under the age of 18, 5 aged 18-49, and 1 aged 50-64.

Another 214 people were tested for the coronavirus and 207 negative tests results were received.

There have been another seven assumed recoveries with 154 assumed active cases.
