Prescribed fire on SR4 at Calaveras Big Trees sending smoke into Lake Tahoe Basin
Submitted by paula on Wed, 10/30/2024 - 3:11pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There have been many calls to local fire agencies this afternoon about smoke, and the smell of smoke. There is a prescribed fire on SR4 at Calaveras Big Trees and the plume of smoke gets elevated at that point, and the incoming weather system is bringing it right to South Lake Tahoe.
The National Weather Service in Reno could see it on their models, and there is no other source of smoke closer than Calaveras.
